4 Courses range from highly practical NVQs through to university certificates, diplomas, undergraduate degrees, postgraduate degrees (like a Master s or MBA) and research-based qualifications (like PhDs). All courses are taught by highly skilled and experienced teams of academics, informed by the latest thinking and worldclass research. Many of our courses are also modular, giving people the chance to build up qualifications at their own pace. Qualifications for every level Our qualifications are available to people of all abilities and are of a nationally recognised standard. The majority have flexible start dates and can be studied part-time via distance learning, giving employees the chance to fit their learning around work commitments. Get financial support for training There are lots of subsidies out there that can help you keep down the cost of training. Our experts will show you which ones are suited to you. Through a number of schemes, hundreds of millions of pounds are available to small- and medium-sized companies for training. For example, you can apply for up to 1,000 for Leadership and Management training, which could, for example, be put towards an MBA or a management workshop. There s always over-subscription for each new term and the feedback on the quality of the classes is consistently excellent. 5

Accreditation Giving your in-house training the recognition it deserves A great way to add value to your own internal training and development courses is to get them accredited by the University of Hertfordshire. We can assess the courses you run and provide academic credit, which your people can then use to build towards a university qualification. This will add weight to your own development courses and give your employees the incentive of aiming for an internationally recognised qualification, while remaining in employment. Blended learning is about combining different learning styles and using the latest technology to create a new, stimulating learning experience. For example, employees can benefit by sharing online material via our StudyNet intranet system, listen to lecture or revision podcasts and take part in live, online lectures from the comfort of their own homes. Blended learning s main goal is to improve the way people learn and increase the flexibility of how, when and where they do it. You ll find much more on blended learning and the subject areas we cover at Blended learning for healthcare professionals Our experts in the area of Health and Human Sciences have been helping qualified healthcare professionals sharpen their skills through flexible learning and technology. A successful distance-learning CPD course was created by our Nursing and Midwifery team to train specialist tissue viability nurses using online video, podcasts, quizzes and discussion forums. Meanwhile, our Health and Emergency Professions team created postgraduate courses in flexible, bite-sized chunks. This enabled professionals to study in an affordable way, without taking too much time off to study. This made the courses a lot more attractive to both employers and employees. 7
