3 Start from scratch Launch Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 Go to File tab click New double-click a desired option to create a PowerPoint slideshow Blank presentation Office.com Template collection of pre-created slideshow with both design and content including Calendars, Certificate, Schedules and more Sample templates what was installed on the local computer My templates Lasted Edited:

4 Add slides and content Add a new slide Go to File tab Slides group click New Slide down arrow select a desired slide layout, for example Title and Content layout Repeat the process to add as many slides as needed for the presentation slide show Add content Start with a completely new file (Blank presentation) Click on the top placeholder called Click to add title to enter the name of the presentation by using keyboard Do not press ENTER after finishing typing the text in the placeholder for Title, use the mouse to click the second place holder for enter text Click on the second placeholder called Click to add subtitle to enter the catchy name or presenter s name and date by using keyboard Lasted Edited:

5 Change the slide layout Select the slide to change the layout Go to File tab Slides group click the Layout down arrow select the different layout for the slide Lasted Edited:

6 Reset the slide layout Select the slide to reset the layout Go to File tab Slides group click Reset Delete a slide Do one of the following: Right click on the slide to get rid of and choose Delete Slide Click on the slide and press DELETE key on the keyboard Lasted Edited:

7 Rearrange the order of slides The order of the layout is the important key to present ideas successfully to the audience because it leads them down the path that persuades them to the presenter s cause without confusing or distracting them. To rearrange slides in the PowerPoint, do one of the following: In the Normal View, click Slides tab select the slide to move and drag it to the desired location Go to View tab Presentation Views group click Slide Sorter click the slide to move and drag it to the desired location Lasted Edited:

8 Save time with Outline mode Outline mode provides a fast way to edit the text of slides and create new ones without any distractions of color, font, pictures and diagrams. It helps to develop the brainstorm process in writing all the ideas and topics needed to be covered in the presentation. To switch to the Outline mode, in the Normal View, select Outline tab Each number on the left, along with the slide icon, represents the slide The text in bold is the slide title The text under the slide title is the content which is usually displayed with bullets To edit the text in the Outline mode, click on the text to edit text or use Spellcheck feature To create a new slide in the Outline mode, do one of the following: Place the cursor at the end of the last slide title in the Outline pane and press ENTER Enter the slide title Press ENTER and then press TAB to indent to enter content of the slide Lasted Edited:

9 Press SHIFT + TAB to turn content in one slide to become a title for a new slide Lasted Edited:

10 Separate slideshow into sections In Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, the new Section feature helps to organize slides by naming sections to keep track of groups of slides, assigning sections to colleagues to make ownership clear during collaboration, and even outlining the topic in the presentation Add a section In Normal view or Slide Sorter view, click between the two slides where to add a section Go to File tab Slides group click the New Slide down arrow select Section Header Enter the name of the section in the placeholder called CLICK TO ADD TITLE Lasted Edited:

11 Place the cursor in front of each Section layouts created Go to File tab Slides group click the Section down arrow choose Add Section Rename the section Right click on the Untitled Section bar select Rename Section In the Rename Section dialog box, do the following: Enter the name of the section under Section name box Click Rename to confirm the change Lasted Edited:

12 Use Section to manage slides To expand/collapse the section, click on the small arrow to the left of each section bar To move the section within a PowerPoint slide show, drag and drop the section bar Save a presentation Access to Save options PowerPoint 2010 automatically saves the work and recovers it in the event of a crash. It even automatically saves a backup copy when accidently closing PowerPoint files without saving it. To turn on those features, do the following: Go to File tab click Options Lasted Edited:

13 In the PowerPoint Options dialog box, do the following: Click on Save Under Save files in this format section, select a desired saving option format from the drop down list Select those following options: Save AutoRecover information every x minutes (10 minutes is a good default) Keep the last autosaved version if I close without saving Lasted Edited:

14 Save a PowerPoint presentation with different format Go to File tab click Save and Send Click on File Type section select a desired format to save the presentation Lasted Edited:
