10 Clinical Services Secondary Care Services: Benefits Snapshot: Emergency Department Heart Emergency Centre Acute Medical Unit Primary PCI Service CCU at specialist centre Access to EMIS Web seriously cuts down the time spent by AMU staff contacting GP practices for patient information. In addition, it drastically improves the quality of information and assists with us meeting our NICE targets AMU Consultant Pharmacist, August 2009 Over 3000 shared records accessed to date
11 Clinical Services Extended Primary Care: Benefits Snapshot: Out of Hours GPs City wide Minor Surgery Joint Injections Anticoagulation Service Community Matrons EMIS web enables us access to real time patient records, for us this it is a major development to help us in our day to day jobs seeing patients. It is essential to inform safe clinical practice. What we have access to has already enhanced our work. Access to accurate medication data, investigations, consultations, demographics at the click of a button. EMIS web has already saved a vast amount of time and aids clinical practice. Community Matron, Liverpool Over shared records accessed to date

32 Strategic Benefits Reduces clinical risks and enables high quality, safe consultations Underpins the delivery of the New Health Service for Liverpool Strategy through enablement of joined up care Reduces duplication in tests Protects patient confidentiality: Patient clinical data is not held and stored by a service provider after discharge in a standalone system Gaining patient consent to access their primary care record fully informs the patient as to what information is being accessed to support their delivery of care Electronic and clear audit trail information allows the monitoring of appropriate access to records
33 Feedback so far??? Still early days, small controlled steps being taken along the way as new services / Trusts are added... Over records accessed so far across various services Positive patient experiences Clinician feedback
