UCA EPSOM, JUNE (UCA001) For: Year 12 students interested in fashion This exciting three-day Summer School will introduce you to some of the creative design practices used to inform innovative and contemporary fashion. The Summer School will cover all elements of fashion, including: design, marketing, management, promotion and journalism. THE CYCLE CAFÉ. UCA FARNHAM, 5-7 July (UCA002) For: Year 11 & 12 students interested in architecture & interior design How would you go about creating a unique café offering delicious food and drinks for cyclists, runners and walkers near the popular off-road routes through the centre of Farnham? Working with our specialist tutors, you ll develop and realise your own designs for this exciting proposal during this Summer School. Through the use of a range of traditional and digital media, you ll learn how to create free-standing structures and design a café interior that is both welcoming and functional. ART FOR ART S SAKE. UCA FARNHAM, July (UCA003) For: Year 12 students interested in graphics & illustration Put your creative thinking, visual storytelling and games design skills into practice by creating your own artwork to be exhibited at the end of the Summer School. Create your own artwork for exhibition at the end of the Summer School. E: teachers@uca.ac.uk T: Applications must be received by Friday 6 May. Your place will be confirmed by Friday 27 May.

4 SUMMER SCHOOL OPTIONS NON-RESIDENTIAL OPTIONS PINHOLE PUBLISHING. UCA CANTERBURY, July (UCA005) For: Year 11 & 12 students interested in architecture & interior design What will the city of the future look like, and how will we use and navigate its interior and exterior spaces? This Summer School will introduce you to architectural model-making and animation techniques, using large-scale drawing and illumination to create your vision of the future. TWISTING THE TRUTH. UCA CANTERBURY, July (UCA006) For: Years 10 & 11. Suitable for students interested in photography and fine art. Pushing the boundaries of image making is something that is current and exciting. On this Summer School you ll be changing the way you think about photography and questioning what a photograph is. Looking at photography as a way of manipulating what we see and creating works of art that go against the grain of what we would expect. You ll explore ways of image capturing, leading you onto transforming your images by delving through a variety of techniques, disfiguring and altering the materiality of the photographic print to transform it from what we believe a photograph to be, to the many possibilities of what it can become. For: Year 10 & 11 students interested in fine art Join us as we delve into the past, present and future, exploring how artistic techniques have evolved over time and discovering new methods of creating unique pieces of artwork. You ll learn techniques from the past, such as traditional plaster casting, as well as exploring contemporary methods of making, such as artist books and fanzines. You ll also discover how these different techniques can be combined, contrasted and altered to build a portfolio of works that explore how we produce art today. E: teachers@uca.ac.uk T: Applications must be received by Friday 6 May. Your place will be confirmed by Friday 27 May.

5 SUMMER SCHOOL OPTIONS NON-RESIDENTIAL OPTIONS WHO AM I? UCA FARNHAM, 5-7 July (UCA008) For: Year 10 & 11 students interested in crafts or illustration This ceramics-based Summer School will help you to reflect on your own identity and sense of self, so you can begin to discover answers to the question Who am I? You ll use this exploration to inspire your creativity by drawing and crafting a 3D model of a head, using a range of techniques to convey parts of its identity through decoration. CREATIVE CERAMICS. UCA FARNHAM, July (UCA009) For: Year 10 students interested in crafts You ll come up with initial ideas and then develop your design, exploring the surface pattern design on a curved surface - transferring your image onto a paper cup, bowl or plate.
