3 Purpose This guide provides important KAM Driver Installation information. About the Kersh KAM The KAM (Kinetic Activity Monitor) utilizes accelerometer technology to bring you a unique fitness experience. The KAM lets you monitor your daily activity and calorie burn throughout the day, plus input nutritional information. At the end of the day or less frequently, you can download your activity via USB interface to the MYKAMunity website, where you can track your statistics. 4 Important Information Please read the following before installation. The driver is supported by Windows XP, 2000, Vista, Windows 7. Note: The driver does not work with the following: Windows 98 Windows ME MAC Do NOT have your KAM plugged in during the Installation process. You may leave the USB cable connected if you wish. The entire process should only take a few minutes from start to finish. If you have a firewall you may need to turn it off or allow it to access our websites. If you do not have administrative rights on your company PC you may need to have an IT person complete this installation. The driver is available for download at: 4

5 Installation Steps Click Run to start the Installation Download. To ensure success, follow the prompts throughout the installation process. Click on Run. 5

6 It is recommended that all 3 boxes remain checked. Click on Install to install to the selected file folder. Activity Monitor Driver Installer - Click to Install. 6

7 System will be scanned. This scan takes less than 2 minutes. Files will be copied to the KAM Coach folder. Installation completed successfully. Click OK. You may now plug in your KAM. Locate a vacant USB Port on your computer and connect the USB cable that came with your KAM. Note: You may get a message on your taskbar/toolbar stating Found New Hardware if you are plugging in the USB cable for the 1 st time. A KAM icon will appear on your taskbar near the clock on your PC. 7

8 A box will appear stating: Reading KAM. Next box to appear will state: Launching Browser to Your MyKAMunity Personal Home Page should automatically open. Note: If this is the first time docking the KAM you may be asked to create a User Name. Your KAM is ready for you to start wearing it. Congratulations! You have successfully installed the KAM driver. 8

9 Trouble Shooting Tips Issue: The KAM will not automatically dock/upload. Step 1 - Restart the KAM Program Unplug the KAM. Is the KAM Icon on the Taskbar? Blue Oval Shaped Icon If the KAM Icon is on the taskbar, Right Click on the Icon and then select Exit. Once the program has exited then go to All Programs (located in Start Menu). 9

10 Locate the KAM Coach file/folder in All Programs. Double click on the KAM Coach Icon to start the program. This process will put the KAM Icon on your Taskbar near the PC clock. Plug in the KAM. (Note: If the KAM driver is functioning a box will appear stating Reading KAM.) If the KAM does not automatically dock and upload after restarting the program proceed to Step 2- Bridge Controller to manually update the KAM driver. 10

11 Step 2 Bridge Controller The KAM should be plugged in during this process. Click on the Start button and go to Control Panel. Look for the icon that says System and double click on it. (If you do NOT see System, locate the My Computer icon and right click on it, then go to System Properties.) Note: Your PC may need to be displaying Classic View. 11

12 In the System Properties menu, click on the Hardware tab. Click Device Manager. 12

13 Look for Other Devices to locate the CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller Right click on it and select Update Driver. The hardware update wizard should now be on your screen. Select Install the software automatically (Recommended) and click Next. 13

14 If you see a window asking you to connect to the windows update to download driver select This time only. You should now see the wizard install the driver for the KAM. If the Hardware Installation window pops up, click Continue Anyway. 14

15 You have now installed the KAM USB driver. Click Finish. The KAM display screen should be reading PC. You should now see a box that says Reading KAM and your personal KAMunity webpage will launch automatically. If this is the first time docking the KAM you may be asked to create a User Name. Your KAM is ready for you to start wearing it. If the KAM is still unable to dock automatically; proceed to uninstall the driver as outlined in Step 3 Uninstall Driver. 15

16 Step 3 Uninstall Driver If you see the KAM Icon (blue oval shaped icon) on your task bar, please exit it. Go to control panel and open Add or Remove programs (Vista users open Program and Features in the control panel). Look for Activity Monitor (Driver Removal) and any program with the word KAM. Uninstall/remove each of these programs. Once you have removed all programs related to the KAM, restart your computer. Download and re-install the driver as outlined in this guide. Do not have the KAM plugged in during the Installation. KAM driver trouble shooting steps failed to get the KAM docked: Is there a different computer with the KAM driver installed and working that the KAM can dock to? If the KAM will dock on a different PC this indicates the KAM is functioning correctly. You may need to uninstall and re-install the KAM driver. If KAM will not dock on a different PC with a working driver or on a Kersh Health Station please contact Kersh for assistance.
