1 Installation Instructions: Magnetic LED Strip-Lighting Kits Installation Notes & Precautions: 45W Magnetic LED Strip-Lighting Kit Read all precautions, warnings, instructions contained in this document. These instructions can be used to install the Magnetic LED Strip-Lighting Kits into a properly prepared metallic lighting fixture. Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or installer. Operating voltages: 120VAC to 277VAC Operating temperature range: -4 ºF to 122 ºF This light source is not intended as an emergency exit fixture or light. Both the LED lighting strips and the drivers have strong magnets that help streamline retrofit installations of LED lighting into standard metallic fixtures typically used for fluorescent lamps. These versatile Magnetic LED Strip-Lighting Kits also can be installed onto any metallic surface or into any metallic luminaire housing that can accommodate 22.5-inch-long LED lighting strips. The Magnetic LED Strip-Lighting Kits may be used in open or enclosed surface or recessed (Type-IC) luminaires. WARNING Always disconnect power for your safety when performing the luminaire modification steps below! In some cases, it may be necessary to test the power feed with the power connected. Only connect the power when doing the testing, then disconnect the power from the luminaire when performing the steps below. WARNING Always follow local and regional NEMA Electrical codes. NEMA codes provide information on proper procedures, safety guidelines, proper tools, connection methods, and specifications on materials. By using the included instructions, you are solely responsible for following all applicable electrical safety procedures, codes, methods, and materials. CAUTION Do not make or alter any open holes in an enclosure of wiring or electrical components during kit installation.

(2 jumpers for 45W & 65W models, 4 jumpers for 90W model) 1 bag WIRE NUTS [Included with all orders] Wire nuts for splicing electrical leads 1 RETROFITTED LUMINAIRE LABEL [SKU #: ] Label indicating that the luminaire has been retrofitted with a Magnetic LED Strip-Lighting Kit Magnetic LED Strip-Lighting Kit Installation Instructions: STEP 1 Disconnect power to installation site. WARNING: Ensure that all power is off using a voltmeter or other method. STEP 2 (Inspect Driver Box Contents) Open driver box and inspect contents. Depending on model ordered, box should contain: o 1 driver (45W, 65W or 90W) o 2 or 4 short jumper leads o 1 or 2 longer low-voltage supply leads o 1 bag of wire nuts Use these items for connecting the LED lighting strips and supplying low-voltage power to them. 4 STEP 3 (Example 2 x 4 Troffer Preparation) Pre-Retrofit Troffer STEP 4 (Installation/Wiring of Magnetic Strips & Power Supply) Jumper Lead #2 Mains-Voltage Wire Connections (2) Low-Voltage Wire Connections (4) LED Driver Installed Magnetic LED Strips & Power Supply (65W Model) Hot Neutral (Brn) (Blue) Lead #1 LED Driver - Wire- Nut Splices (2) Lead (1) Mag LED Strips (3) Wiring Example (45W Model) + Prepared Troffer Lead #2 Magnetic LED Strip (4 Places) Jumper Lead #1 + Dimming Wires (2) - Jumpers (2) Remove troffer lens, if present. Remove existing fluorescent tube lamps by rotating one quarter turn and sliding each lamp out. Dispose of them per job/company site rules and regulations. Remove ballast cover. (Cover may be secured with screws or tabs.) Remove existing fluorescent ballast as well as all existing wiring, socket covers, and sockets, if necessary. (Image of Prepared Troffer depicts an example where unneeded sockets & socket covers remain in place.) Bare fixture is now ready for Magnetic LED Strip- Lighting Kit installation. Magnetic Strip Installation: Place the magnetic LED strips in the desired locations within the luminaire, troffer, etc. (In the 2 x 4 example shown, four 22.5-in. magnetic strips are placed end-to-end where the two fluorescent lamps used to be.) Orient the LED strips so that the two female connectors on the strip are located at either end of the troffer, not in the middle. Jumper-Lead Installation: Working at one end of the troffer, Connect the magnetic LED strips of the troffer in series by inserting the male connectors of the supplied jumper leads into one of the female connectors located on each LED strip. Either female connector will work, but the inside-facing connectors will allow more spacing between the magnetic LED strips, if needed. This connects two LED strips in series. If you are installing the 45W or 90W models, use a second supplied jumper lead to connect the second LED strip to the third strip at the same end of the troffer. If you are installing the 45 W model in a 2 x 2 troffer, for example, two jumper leads completes the series connection between three LED strips. For the 65W & 90W models, repeat the jumperlead installation at the other end of the troffer. -Lead Installation: Insert the male connector of the supplied low-voltage lead(s) into any of the remaining female connectors at one end of the troffer, preferably on an outside strip. For the 65W & 90W models, repeat the lowvoltage connection on an outside strip at the other end of the troffer using second low-voltage power lead. (For the 45W model, one low-power lead completes connection of the LED strips.) Driver Installation & Connections: Place the magnetic LED driver in the desired location, preferably where it can be enclosed by the existing ballast cover. Splice the red (+) and black (-) low-power wires from the driver to the matching red and black wires of the previously connected low-power leads using the supplied wire nuts. Splice the hot (brown) and neutral (blue) wires of the LED driver to the hot and neutral incoming power leads using the supplied wire nuts.

5 STEP 5 (0-10V Dimming Option) STEP 6 (Apply Retrofitted Luminaire Label) The LED driver is equipped with two 0-10V dimming leads for dimming from 100% to 10%. To enable 0-10V dimming, splice the white (-) and blue (+) dimming wires from the driver to the appropriate plus and minus incoming dimmingcontrol wires using the supplied wire nuts. Apply Retrofitted Luminaire Label (SKU #300042) on inside of luminaire housing near one end of housing. Ensure that the label will not be covered by any cover pieces, trim pieces, or other items. If necessary, clean the area where label will be placed before affixing the selfadhesive label. STEP 7 (Secure Wires, Ballast Cover & Lens) Bundle and secure any loose wires. Replace the ballast cover to conceal the LED driver and all wiring except the jumper leads that connect the magnetic LED strips. NOTE: If the magnets attached to the LED driver prevent normal installation of the ballast cover, remove them and secure the LED driver with self-tapping or other screws. Replace troffer lens, if applicable. STEP 8 Switch power back on.
