2 THANK YOU! Thank you for serving as a volunteer coordinator! Your class members are on the verge of finding the hope they need to take control of their money. Futures will change because of you! The key to a successful class is promotion. This guide gives you a proven plan and the tools to help you get the word out. Your Stewardship Advisor will also be with you every step of the way. Let s get started!
3 Promote in YOUR CHURCH The best place to start spreading the word about your class is your church. We offer many promotional resources at FPUCentral.com. You ll find posters, screen graphics, social media posts, s, promotional videos, and announcements for your congregation. You ll find more details on the next page. Personal testimonies from Financial Peace University (FPU) graduates are powerful especially yours. If you know anyone who s completed the class, ask them to share how it has impacted their lives. Promote in YOUR COMMUNITY FPU is a powerful outreach tool, and many churches have had as much as 30% of their class come from their community! So invite coworkers, friends and family to your free class preview, and list your class on daveramsey.com. You can even hang posters in store windows. Be creative!
4 Items in Your PROMOTION PACK PROMOTION TIMELINE This timeline walks you through the process of promoting your class week by week. It also helps you track your progress along the way. You won t have to worry about getting ahead of yourself or falling behind! PROMO DVD This DVD contains videos to help you promote your class. Play a video before Sunday morning service each week, for example. GET SOCIAL We ve included social media posts and images on FPU Central for you to share. That s a great way to let family and friends help you spread the word. We ve also included s you can customize and send out. POSTERS Included are four colorful and eye-catching posters to hang up around church to spread the excitement about your class. Be sure to list your contact information at the bottom for any questions people might have.
5 Host a CLASS PREVIEW How can you build interest in your class? Offer a free sample! A free class preview two or three weeks before your class starts introduces potential members to the class and gives a little taste of what they can expect. You can announce it by downloading the podium announcement card found on FPUCentral.com. Have a room set up with a large screen (the bigger the better) and DVD player. Show the class preview video, and Dave will handle the rest! At the end of the preview video, be sure to talk about the value of FPU membership. The average family pays off $5,300 in debt and saves $2,700 in the first 90 days! Remind attendees of the class start date and ask them to purchase their FPU membership before they leave the preview.
6 Offer a FREE LESSON Offering the first lesson for free is another great way to promote your class. Families and individuals can take this commitmentfree first step and see firsthand the value of finishing their own Financial Peace University journey. Free Online Resources on FPU CENTRAL We offer a wealth of online resources to help you with everything you need to promote and run a successful class. There are even materials to help you track attendance and results. Check them out at FPUCentral.com.
7 Promotional TIMELINE The goal with each FPU class is to help as many families and individuals as possible learn practical ways to take control of their money. We ve pulled together a few proven ideas to help you promote your class. Don t forget: You can find promotional resources on FPUCentral.com. Time Frame Class Sign-Ups Begin promoting 3 to 4 weeks out from your free preview BEST Begin promoting 2 to 3 weeks out from your free preview BETTER Begin promoting 1 to 2 weeks out from your free preview GOOD KEY FPU sign-ups unreached
8 3 to 4 Weeks Before Your Class Make a list of people you d like to invite to your class. The church directory, Facebook friends, or your phone contact list are great places to start. Hang posters around your church. Contact church staff about including your class information in the newsletter. Ask your church to post the class information on the church website and social media as well. Share your FPU story on social media along with your class link. How has FPU impacted your life? Early in the week, post a picture of your family and share your financial story. Post your unique class link at the bottom so they can check it out and learn more. Share a promotional video on your social accounts. Include a few sentences about why the video is important to you. If you ve taken FPU before, share how the class helped you and why you are so excited to share FPU with others! If you will be taking FPU for the first time while leading it, share what you are most looking forward to. Don t forget to include your unique class link.
9 2 to 3 Weeks Before Your Class Show a promotional video during church service. Download and give the announcement card to the person doing announcements. Promote your class from the platform at church. Share your personal testimony or play a promo video. the announcement card again so someone can mention it from the platform. Post twice on social media this week. Choose two of your favorite FPU social images from the Promotions page on FPUCentral.com. Share one at the start of the week and the other at the end. In the post, invite your friends and family to join you. Include the link to your unique class page so they can learn more. Encourage them to message you with questions.
10 The Week Before Your Class Promote your class again from the platform at church. Many will be hearing it for the first time. And if not, repetition is the key to learning anyway! Remember to the announcement card to the person who makes announcements. Start the conversation with people who have signed up. Just let them know you re excited to get started and glad they re going to be a part of your class. Ask them to invite any friends or family who might be interested. Follow up with people who ve shown interest. Remind them the class start date is getting close. Post twice on social media this week. Choose two more social images from the Promotions page on FPUCentral.com. This will serve as a reminder for people who were considering registering. Mention that the class start date is less than a week away. Some coordinators put a countdown in the title so people can see how long they have to register. Facebook Live is an alternate way for them to hear the excitement in your voice and ask you questions.
11 A Few Days Before Your Class Send out a reminder text, , tweet, and social post. Include an image in every post since they deliver better results. Your post might read something like, So excited for our FPU class that kicks off next week! It s not too late to join. If you re coming, please share our link with your friends and family. Sign up at. Send out a reminder post on social media 2 days before the class starts. Only 2 more days until we start our journey together toward financial peace! Sign up at. Remember to include an image. Send a last call reminder. Don t forget to include an attention-grabbing headline. Today s the day! It s still not too late to join us. Sign up at. Follow up 1 2 days after the first class. We had a great first class, but we missed you! It s not too late to join us. You can still sign up at.
12 Frequently Asked QUESTIONS What s the best way to share my excitement and encourage people to sign up? Your personal testimony is the most powerful tool you have. Promotional videos also help, as does offering a free preview of the class. Adding a Register by... deadline gives it a sense of urgency. What do I share if I haven t been through FPU and don t have a personal testimony? Share what inspired you to host the class. Why did you sign up to be a coordinator? Has Dave Ramsey impacted you outside of the class? Did FPU impact someone you know? Why is promoting the class for 3 4 weeks so important? That may seem like a long time, but remember, some people can t attend church every week. Repetition is important too. Some people need to hear things that many times to act! Should I limit the size of the class? The hope is that everyone who wants to change their future gets that chance. If you re concerned about space and class size, feel free to call your Stewardship Advisor. When should I order the required FPU memberships and class materials? It s best to place your order at least two weeks before your class to allow for shipping.
13 Frequently Asked QUESTIONS What is an FPU membership? A membership means you can attend the FPU class as often as you like. Spouses and engaged couples can attend together with a single membership, and teens living at home are welcome to attend with their parents. Memberships include class materials and access to all online resources. How much are FPU memberships? Pricing varies based on specials offered throughout the year. Please check our online store at CoordinatorCentral.com for the latest on pricing. What do I do with my activation code? Your FPU activation code unlocks the online tools and resources that will crank your experience up a notch. Your unique activation code is located inside the welcome packet of your FPU membership. Enter that code when you sign in to FPU Central. Where can I find the FPU license agreement? We have a few guidelines to ensure the best class experience. 1.
