1 Member exhibit check from 1-7:00 pm Complete the entry form for each member, Entry forms are available at: Include the section, lot, and description. Staple multiple entry forms together. Do not write on the back of the entry form. Complete tags for each item with section, lot, and club name; this will take the place of address. Tear off entire bottom of the tag; it is OK for information to show. Keep bottom claim check for each item. Attach a tag to each exhibit and place an age division sticker on each tag, as follows. GREEN: Cloverbud RED: JR YELLOW: Intermediate BLUE: SR Tags can be picked up at the Lake County Fair office, or, tags and stickers will be available at exhibit check in. Work stations will be available. Take items to the section area and place them near the lot number card. Check with section supervisor if unsure about placement. Bring entry form to Vera to check for completion. We are not responsible for entries left in the 4-H building. Premium monies can be picked up the last Saturday of the fair, or will be available at the leader s meeting on the last Monday of the month. We do not mail cash nor can we write checks. All current dates are in the 4-H Premium book.

3 DEPARTMENT L - 4-H YOUTH DEPARTMENT Superintendent: Juanita Popenoe, County Extension Director GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS This department of the Lake County Fair is open to bona fide members of Lake County 4-H. All 4-H members exhibiting must be in good standing as certified or approved by the 4-H Extension Agent, & meet the criteria as specified for the exhibit category. All exhibits must be in good condition & presentable to the public. Each article exhibited must be owned, produced, or made by the exhibitor. All entries except livestock must be clearly marked with the name, age, & club of the member. The modified Danish System of judging will be used in making awards. Cloverbud entries will not be judged & receive a participation ribbon. Please register all club/member exhibits, scarecrows, banners, & member demos with the office at least 1 week prior to exhibit check in. Livestock Show Rules are listed separately. Please visit the Lake County 4-H website or call the office for questions. 4-H YOUTH EXHIBIT ENTRY SCHEDULE DAY TIME DEPARTMENT Monday, April 2, :00-7:00 PM A - Q Exhibits All exhibits must be removed between 9-11 pm on Sat, April 14 or between 2-4pm on Sun, April 15. Premiums will be distributed to club leaders at the Leaders Meeting on April 30, Please be aware that any items not picked up on Sat may be unattended on Sun & will NOT be brought back to the 4-H office. PREMIUMS: BLUE ribbon - $ 3.00, RED ribbon- $ 2.00, unless otherwise noted. Best of Show: Rosette & $ Awarded to outstanding exhibits as determined by JUDGES. SECTION A - 4-H HORTICULTURE EXHIBITS RULES 1. All horticulture exhibits, except Bedding Plants & Dish Gardens, must have been part of the exhibitor s project for at least 3 months. Cut Flowers & Bedding Plants must have been grown by the exhibitor. 2. Plants must be labeled with the common name. 3. Specimens must be of exhibition quality. All specimens must be clean, free of insects & disease & well groomed with no dead leaves. Containers must be in good condition. To facilitate watering; all plants must be provided with a tray. 4. Individual exhibitors may enter only 1 plant of any one variety & up to 3 varieties in each lot number. 5. The Fair Management reserves the right to reject, limit, or disqualify any exhibit. Dish Gardens & Terrariums will be judged for overall beauty & interest. They must have pleasing design, contrast of color & several varieties of plants. 1

8 SECTION N GAME BOARDS RULES 1. Open only to Lake 4-H Members and/or Lake County 4-H Clubs. No Cloverbud Exhibits. 2. Only one board may be entered per club and/or member. 3. Maximum Board Size 36 X 36. (Foam board construction suggested) 4. Brads or screws may be used for connections. If using brads, soldering is optional. 5. Suggested wire gauges: Back of Board gauge 6. Open to any Lake County 4-H Member. 2. May present a prepared demonstration in the 4-H demonstration area on either the first Saturday or Sunday of the fair during regular building hours. 3. To receive credit, you must register 2 weeks in advance by calling the 4-H office. You must sign in on the day you are presenting your demonstration with the volunteer watching the 4-H building, 4. Each member may do one demonstration. 5. Team demonstrations are allowed within the same age division (teams must split premium money). 6. Time requirements: JR & INTs 3-12 minutes, & SRs 5-12 minutes. 7. Demonstrations will be awarded a $10 premium. 8. Cloverbuds may present a Demonstration for participation credit only. (No premiums will be given to Cloverbuds). 9. Only participants will receive free admission the day of their demonstration. 6

9 SECTION P - CLUB BANNER CONTEST Exhibits must be pre-registered at least 1 week prior to the exhibit check-in date, call the office to register. 1. Must be entered by a 4-H Club. 2. Only one banner per club. 3. Banners can be made of felt, backed fabric, sign cloth or a firm fabric that is sturdy enough to hold its shape. 4. Finished banners should measure 5 wide & 3 long & must have a 2 casing at the top of the banner to make them suitable for hanging. Finished banners will be rectangular in shape. Rods will NOT be provided, you must provide. 5. Design on banners may be painted, glued or sewn; however, all decorations & lettering on the banner must be securely fastened to the banner. 6. Banners must have the following displayed on them: A 4-H Clover, proper use is required, & the name of their club. 7. Banners may not be commercially made & must be made after September 1, of current year. Only quality banners will be displayed.
