3 London Scottish FOOTBALL CLUB EST A WORLD FAMOUS CLUB WITH A FANTASTIC HERITAGE London Scottish FC was founded in MacKay s Tavern (Ludgate Hill), on April 10th 1878 LSFC have produced 224 international players for Scotland more than any other Club Famous players of recent years include Gavin Hastings, Mike Biggar, Al McHarg, Kenny Logan, Rob Wainwright, Alan Lawson LSFC has produced 4 British Lions Captain s & a number of British Lions Players Traditionally played at the elite of British Rugby for over 100 years RECENT HISTORY Turned professional in 1996 and played in the English Premiership Demoted 9 divisions by the RFU in 1999 due to financial reasons THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY Reformed in 2000 as a purely Amateur Club at Level 9 Promoted 7 times in past 11 seasons Now has a successful professional coaching and commercial structure Currently in the Championship (1 division below the Premiership) Over 1000 members and extensive network beyond Match day crowds of between ,500 people Has an academy and development structure to produce future players TESTIMONIALS A strong Scottish XV is imperative, not only for the game in Scotland, but for world rugby. DEVELOPMENT PATHWAY Players encouraged to continue in higher education Further Education To deliver professional players for London Scottish first and foremost, from where ultimately these players can reach the elite level of international rugby, representing Scotland and other international teams. The aims will be achieved through strong and mutually beneficial partnerships between London Scottish and the stakeholders involved in the academy. 8 LONDON SCOTTISH Primary Objective To identify and develop quality players to play professional rugby for London Scottish and to produce players at a junior and senior national representative level, especially for Scotland.

9 ACADEMY SIZE AND SCOPE OF CATCHMENT AREA Places for over 35 players in the senior academy squad and over 50 in the junior academy squad. Recruitment drive over next five years heavily focused on schools, colleges and clubs within a 30 mile radius of Richmond (10 million people +) and an awareness campaign in Scotland, as well as the rest of UK. THE JUNIOR ACADEMY 16 to 18 year olds playing as Young Lions in specific academy games Players can progress to Senior Academy after U18 season Scottish eligible players will be available to the Scottish Exiles program Players will be in education either in the BTEC National Diploma in Sport run at the club or in own school or college. Spaces are limited for the BTEC scholarship. Apprenticeships available. THE SENIOR ACADEMY 18 to 23 year olds will play as the Rampant Lions in academy games against opponents like Cambridge and Oxford Universities, The Army, Navy & RAF, as well as other academies Bridges the gap between junior rugby and senior professional rugby Attract and develop quality players including late developers, ex-premiership Academy players and rugby league converts Players will be in higher education, apprenticeships or will hold a job THE PRO LIONS SELECT The best players from the Senior Academy will train and, in some cases play alongside the professional squad. FACILITIES Based at the Richmond Athletic Ground, the Senior Academy players will train alongside the professional squad and in the senior setup. Junior Academy players will take part in academy specific sessions. Academy players will also have access to our club gym and the newly developed Human Performance Lab at GlaxoSmithKline. 10 Coaching and Fixtures COACHING SETUP Academy coaches are all RFU qualified, Level 3 and higher with extensive experience in player development. Top guest coaches, current and former greats of the game, all add value in our lectures and coaching sessions. Fully supported by strength & conditioning coaches and physiotherapists. FIXTURES The Junior and Senior Academy squads each will play approx academy games per year in addition to age group or senior games respectively.
