3 Trainee Programmes Elisabeth Zerfu Andersen and Martin Hein graduated from the EITE programme in the summer of ECCO Shoes A/S is offering three exclusive trainee programmes for adventurous young people who are ready for exciting challenges and keen on seizing the world. All three programmes offer a world of opportunities and open doors to personal as well as professional development in one of the world s leading shoe manufacturing companies. The three trainee programmes offer insight into the international world of business. During the training period all trainees will experience different cultures and countries as well as get the chance to combine practical experience with theoretical knowledge. 3 4

4 EITE Programme The EITE programme is spread over 3 years. The programme consists of a combination of: practical work experience within different departments in the organisation, and theoretical training and education in various parts of the world. The first year, the programme will run in one of ECCO s production units in Thailand, Indonesia, China, or Slovakia. The trainee will work through the entire workflow of production experiencing all production processes from cow to shoe, as well as spend time in production related areas to gain profound knowledge of the entire workflow of an ECCO production subsidiary. During the second and third year of the programme the trainee will work in headquarters in Denmark and abroad in one of ECCO s Regional Sales Subsidiaries in Europe, Americas, or Asia Pacific. Jacob is a third year trainee stationed in Amsterdam, Holland where he is involved with the branded expansion in the ECCO Europe, Middle East and Africa Region. Jacobs first year in production was split between expatriation in Porto, Portugal and Surabaya, Indonesia. After returning to ECCO HQ in Tønder, Denmark, Jacob spent time in International Retail as a business analyst and in HR as a coordinator. The experience gained throughout the program is put to full use in his new position in Amsterdam where the process of growing ECCO s branded presence requires cultural understanding, long term planning and the ability to juggle many balls at one time. My expectations for working and living in Amsterdam were high, but already now the reality has by far exceeded the expectations. My shared responsibility of planning and opening new stores in the European region along with finding new countries for ECCO to expand in is very challenging and highly interesting. 5 6

5 Specialist Trainee Programme The specialist programme is spread over 2 years and consists of a combination of: practical work experience within product development and design, and theoretical training and education in various parts of the world. The first year, the programme will run in two of ECCO s production units: Thailand and Portugal. The trainee will work through the entire workflow of production, experiencing all production processes from start to finish, while the main focus will be on product development. During the second year of the programme the trainees will work within Product Development, Design and other product development related areas in Headquarters. The Trainee will over a period of twelve weeks attend a course at Leicester School of Footwear before returning to headquarters for the last 3 months of the programme Graduate Trainee Programme The Graduate programme is spread over 2 years. During the programme, the trainees will experience hands-on work in production, and on the job training in two headquarters departments as well as one sales subsidiary department. The first year of the programme will be a combination of headquarter training and placement in a production subsidiary, where the second year will be a combination of headquarters and sales subsidiaries. During the headquarter periods the trainees will receive soft skill training preparing them to take up a possible future project management- or managerial positions after completing the trainee programme. 7 8

6 Theoretical Education EITE: As an EITE trainee you will, over a two and a half year period, study a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business from Brighton School of Business and Management in the UK. The HND is a modular business programme consisting of 16 modules. The HND is equivalent to the first two years of a Bachelor s Degree. The purpose of the education is to make the trainee qualified to work independently with analysis, planning, and implementation of solutions in national as well as international business. Specialist: As a Specialist Trainee you will over a 12 weeks period attend a course which focuses on Footwear Design, and Technology from Leicester International School of Footwear. The course is split into three main areas; Footwear Design, Footwear CAD CAM, and Footwear Technology. The purpose of the course is to give the trainee a thorough introduction to shoemaking and qualify him/her to work independently within areas such as quality control and shoe construction. Graduate: As a Graduate trainee you will participate in soft skill personal development training, enabling the trainee to take up a possible future project management- or managerial positions after completing the trainee programme. 9 10

9 Recruitment EITE Trainees should hold an educational background at an upper secondary level and preferably have international travel experience. Specialist Trainees should have a technical and/or craftsman like education and preferably have international travel experience. Graduate Trainees should minimum have a Bachelor Degree and 2 years of relevant work experience, or a Master Degree, and preferably with international travel experience. All programmes will begin the following August
