6 There are three designations for defects: A Bus taken out of service immediately. Defect must be repaired and re-inspected before returning to service. B Bus remains in service for non pupil transportation. Defect must be repaired within 15 days. C Bus remains in service. Defect must be repaired in 15 days. Each vehicle is inspected twice a year. Each inspection reviews 198 different items with a total of 407 possible defects 311 are designated A defects 74 are designated B Defects 22 are designated C defects With 136 bus inspections in 2013, there were 55,352 possible defects. We presently share the following: 98 Students transported to Albany Career & Technical St Colman s Forts Ferry Elementary Saratoga Academy of the Arts Augustine Classical Academy Savings for Niskayuna is $134, Savings for All 3 Districts is $272,400.00

12 *6:00am Dispatch checks messages, assigns substitutes. Mechanics open buildings and begin working. Drivers begin getting keys and checking buses, phone calls start rolling in. *6:30am High School, Special Ed, Private school runs are in progress, every Driver and Monitor is greeted and observed that they are ready and capable to perform the work required. *7:00am Some Elementary runs begin *7:30am Elementary runs, Special Ed, Private school runs in progress *8:00am Some Middle School runs begin *8:30am Middle School, Special Ed, Private school runs in progress *9:00am Most drivers and monitors return to Bus Garage after completing the morning runs. Some field trips begin. *9:30am Any scheduled training classes or safety meetings take place for drivers and monitors. Office staff reviews bus videos, scheduled, charters, field trips, looks into parent requests, investigates complaints. *10:00am Midday runs begin: Votec, Special Ed *10:30am All Drivers DVR s are checked for proper completion and if there are any mechanical issues. *12:30pm Preparation for the afternoon runs, parent return calls, issues from AM runs addressed. *1:30pm Driver and Monitor arrivals, each staff member greeted and observed as done in the AM. Keys and bus assignments issued. *2:00pm Phones calls, radio checks *2:15pm Elementary, Special Ed, Private school dismissal begins *2:45pm Sports trips depart *3:00pm High School dismissal *3:15pm Middle School dismissal *4:00pm Late runs at Middle & High School *4:30pm Runs start returning to the garage, DVR s checked and logged, lost and found brought in *5:15pm Transportations last regular routed bus arrives back to Transportation Center and Dispatch closes.

13 JULY: Summer runs begin, driver training, refining routes for fall AUGUST: Fall athletic trips begin, finalize non public, special ed placements, routing, bid routes, pre school refresher training, complete all changes SEPTEMBER: School begins, phone calls and general changes performed. All schools visited for arrival & dismissal. OCTOBER: Emergency early release drill, Total review of route performance. Preparation for upcoming winter months, budget preparation. NOVEMBER: Winter athletic trips begin. Finalization of winter procedures, Early Dismissals for conferences, budget preparation. DECEMBER: Catch up on existing routing, reports, special ed, driver and monitor files and requirements. JANUARY: Begin assessment for routing needs / changes for next school year, ongoing training for drivers and attendants. FEBRUARY: Begin outline for next years bus routes MARCH: Spring athletics begin APRIL: Non-public and childcare forms are due, rollover database MAY: Prepare for summer runs, enter special ed for next year JUNE: Summer bidding, finalize summer runs JULY: Summer school begins, absorb more Niskayuna drivers, enter non-public requests, special ed placements
