ARBES BI MODERN SOLUTION for the support of strategic, tactical and operative management
ARBES BI BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE The majority of companies today already know how important it is to have relevant information as a decision-making tool at the right moment. An ongoing issue is how to obtain this information from internal company systems, how to interpret it correctly and how to use it at the right moment. The ARBES BI solution is a set of modern tools, technologies, processes and know-how, the combination of which provides support and optimization of company business processes. The purpose of the solution is to identify key performance indicators of the company, which are evaluated via an intuitive reporting and analytic tool. Data from the enterprise information systems is used to fill in these indicators as well as data from external systems and other different files. Data is processed using an automated process via regular running of so-called ETL processes. Selected business processes, such as planning, budget, profitability monitoring, costing, cross/up-selling, segmentation etc. are then applied in the reporting and analytical environment. The major advantages of the ARBES BI solution are its fast implementation, attractive price, modular architecture (allows for selection of modules according to the customer s needs), independence of the source systems and full automation. The solution is designed for all types of companies regardless of their area of expertise or size. ADVANTAGES OF THE ARBES BI SOLUTION Short implementation period, attractive price Technological independence Easy and intuitive control with minimum requirements for end user training Data processing automation Online availability of information in the reporting tool environment Extensive options for graphical visualization (dozens of graphic types of display) and data distribution 100% web interface, no installation on user PC Option to use above-standard functions such as the notification system, integration with a mobile device or map visualization Simple integration of new systems Minimizing future investments into solutions Saves time, cost and personnel resources during the preparation of reporting outputs Easy creation of reporting outputs (reports, analyses and dashboards) without the need for programming skills Maximum reduction of the manual processing of data = providing full automation and error prevention Online access to reporting outputs / data Unification of the terminology and so-called one version of the truth (unified data dictionary) Data integration of various data sources / systems Extension of the database and new views / dimensions Sharing reporting outputs and securing access to data Application of advanced analytical functions (statistical analysis) and processes (profitability, costing, forecasting, cross/up-selling, segmentation etc.)
ARBES BI SOLUTION ARCHITECTURE AND SOURCE SYSTEMS SOLUTION ARCHITECTURE The ARBES BI solution is built on data integration of various systems to the level of a centralized data store, where a reporting and an analytical layer is created by the client of the selected technological platform. SOURCE SYSTEMS Data integration is the first prerequisite for the creation of comprised views of data from several source systems. Centralization of the lookups used is necessary for the creation of performance indicators across data areas. All the necessary data is provided by enterprise information systems (e.g. economic, personal, operating systems and others), structured and non-structured files (e.g. XLS, CSV, etc.), from where data transfers are used (also called ETL processes) to extract the data into a consolidated data store (data warehouse). The data interface will be defined on the primary system level, where the level of the centralized data store will be physically connected.
CENTRALIZED DATA STORE The fully automated data transfer from the source systems gives the end users time for a more thorough data analysis (discovering bottlenecks in company management), and increases the availability and currency of the reported data. Thanks to the automation of the data transfer, errors from the source systems can be identified and removed, thereby increasing data quality significantly. This aids management in effective decision-making processes. The data store level allows for the creation of very complex data transformations and advanced calculations, which the source systems do not provide. A big advantage is the transfer of the source system load to a secondary database. This level is comprised of a consolidated data store (data warehouse), which integrates selected data sources. The data warehouse is sorted into several logical levels: temporary data store level (layer L0), transformation and aggregation layer (layer L1 through Ln-1), end data marts level (layer Ln). The listed architecture is flexible and allows for easy extensions with other data areas. The data warehouse is also used as an instrument for data archivation and historization which is used for monitoring trends, customer behavior and estimating future growth. OLAP LAYER This layer is created by the OLAP server, where definitions of dimensional models are located (OLAP schemes with definitions of cubes, dimensions and measures). The purpose of this level is the simplification of access to physical data from the data warehouse and this based on the creation of a meta-layer, which contains predefined views of monitored measures and dimensions. The advantage of this layer is the option to define advanced access rights to the content of the OLAP cubes. Individual reporting and analytical components can be connected to this level. REPORTING AND ANALYTICAL PLATFORM The standard solution always includes a user friendly and intuitive web interface that apply latest trends, methods and functionalities necessary for strategic and operational company management. ARBES Technologies offers a BI solution built on 3 technological platforms: ARBES Reporting is a universal reporting and analytical platform, which is designated for companies of all sizes and areas. The platform integrates the basic administration (user administration, report catalog, tasks scheduling etc.) and reporting functions (ad-hoc analyses, static personalized reports and interactive dashboards report panels) in the web portal environment. Reporting and analytical components use data from the OLAP server, data store or from any other data source (the number of data sources is not limited). The creation of reporting outputs is proceed in an intuitive user environment of the application, which is customized for users who are not too technically savvy (no need of programming skills for example). Oracle BI 11g represents a reporting and analytical platform that integrates a set of tools for advanced visualization of reporting outputs such as ad-hoc analyses, publishable reports, interactive dashboards, scorecards, KPI, segmen- tation trees and others. The advantage of the platform is the availability of all reporting functions in an intuitive web environment of the application and the option to quickly create reporting outputs (by simply dragging the attributes with the mouse). The platform belongs among the top leaders in BI. Microsoft SQL is a unified set of tools for data processing and data interpretation, which covers the database server (MSSQL), integration services for data processing (SSIS), analytical services for simplification of access to data in the database (SSAS), reporting applications (MS Excel, SSRS, Power Pivot and Power View) and a platform for sharing and cooperation between users (MS Sharepoint). The advantage of the platform is the robustness of the provided functionalities, which allow for a complete BI process and reporting process.
ARBES BI SYSTEM SECURITY SECURITY ARBES Accomplished Solutions COMPANY PROFILE System security is one of the main priorities at ARBES Technologies. The system security is therefore based on the ISO security standards. The security policy of the ARBES BI solution is divided into several levels: Data warehouse level security is guaranteed by the selected database which does not allow unauthorized users to access the data. Data transfers outside the local network are secured by SSL. Data backup is typically done continuously (using archived rollback segments) and using daily backup to an external backup device. Communication channel level the communication channel between the analytical server and web interface can be secured through SSL (using the HTTPS protocol). Application level access to the application is ensured by the central database of users and passwords. Each user can be assigned more user roles and groups. Access rights can be defined for each object (e.g. report) in the reporting catalog environment and made accessible to the role, group or user separately. Example of an ARBES Reporting Dashboard
