3 1. Key purpose To develop a recruitment and training package to support community speaker volunteers working in the Health Promotion team.

About the role Position title: Department: Project Officer Cancer Support and Health Promotion Services Status: Fixed term Contract (May to September 2015) Hours of Work: Location: Reports to:.6 FTE (45.6 hours per fortnight) Hobart Director Support Services and Health Promotion Key Duties: 1. Develop a recruitment process to enable Health Promotion to have a diverse cohort of volunteers to fulfil the community speaker role 2. To work with the CCT team to incorporate key cancer prevention messages, statistics and current information in a volunteer training model. 3. Train volunteers in a format suitable to a variety of learning styles, incorporating a training toolkit and evaluation process. 4. Other duties as defined by the Director Cancer Support and Health Promotion
5 3. Selection criteria Qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills (Selection Criteria) Essential 1. Tertiary qualifications in public health and/or health promotion or similar. 2. Demonstrated effectiveness in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues. 3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 4. Well-developed training/ teaching skills 5. Excellent organisational skills, including demonstrated ability to set goals and targets, meet tight deadlines and handle competing demands. Desirable Previous experience working in a non-government organisation. Experience working with and /or training volunteers Requirements Current Tasmanian driver s licence. (Position may involve intrastate travel)_
6 4. Conditions of employment Project Officer (Fixed Term Contract) Award/Contract: Cancer Council Tasmania Single Enterprise Agreement Remuneration: The role will be paid as SCHADS Level 5, Grade 2. Annual salary for this role at 0.6 would be:: Base $35,568 Superannuation (9.5%) 3,379 Leave loading 239 Total $39,186 Cancer Council Tasmania employees are able to salary sacrifice to full value as allowed by the Australian Taxation Office to Not for Profit entities. Salary is payable fortnightly. Leave Entitlements: Hours of Work: Training and Development: Health and Fitness: Probation Period: Four weeks per annum (pro rata). This is a 45.6 hours per fortnight position. It is CCT s desire that every employee be given professional development opportunities. CCT provides in house and external training and development opportunities. CCT does not insist on employees undergoing a pre-employment medical examination; however it is a condition of employment that in accepting this position you are able to perform the inherent requirements of the position. The appointment to this position is subject to a probationary period of three months.

How to apply for the position Cancer Council Tasmania uses a merit selection process which means it selects preferred candidates for positions based on their demonstration of the skills, abilities and attributes to meet the requirements of the position. This is demonstrated through application, interview, practical exercises and referee checks. Candidates are short-listed from the original pool of applicants. The Selection Panel will then interview the short-listed candidates and determine the preferred candidate after referee checks. Referees: Two professional referees are to be nominated who are able to comment on your abilities. Please include their telephone number and/or address and the relationship of each referee to yourself (e.g. supervisor). Please disclose any conflicts of interest you may have with a referee.
