2 Positive Strokes Art School and Gallery offers classes and workshops to artists of all ages. Classes are geared toward the individual, allowing artists to begin at their own level, be it beginning through advanced. As teachers invested in helping others to expand their own creative selves, our intention is to offer a comfortable space where learning and self expression come naturally. Dec. Adult Watercolor Show Featuring the wonderful artwork of students from Jeanne Clohisy s watercolor classes. Students range from brand new watercolorists to seasoned painters, all from different levels and artistic backgrounds. Join us to meet both teacher and students and view their awe-inspiring artwork! 3 R e g i s t r a t i o n To register for classes and workshops, please call (847) to be placed on a class roster. You must then confirm your registration with your payment within a week of your phone registration or your space will be given to another student, Classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis. We accept cash, checks and charges (charges are presently in person only but will be taken online beginning Fall II). We will call you only if you have NOT gotten into the class of your choice or if a class is canceled. Classes are limited to between 8-12 students depending on age. There will be no refunds after the first day of class. Please drop off & pick up students no more that 10 minutes before or after each class. There will be $15 charge after 10 minutes to pay teachers for excess time. We will store artwork for 2 weeks into the next session only. 1 make-up class per session is allowed when possible. We offer parties, group outings & play days Page 3

4 MONDAYS Oil & Pastel Painting, ages 8-18 all levels, 4:30-6:30 Emphasis will be on drawing and seeing correctly, use of medium, painting styles, value, and techniques. New students will learn in both mediums. Continuing students have their choice of medium. **Students may also choose to concentrate on drawing skills with pencil or charcoal. Students will work step by step with the teacher, completing a finished painting as they learn about acrylics. We will work in charcoal or pencil and will focus on simple formulas, drawing, values, & being creative. Bring a stretched canvas or canvas board and oils. Have fun while you paint an awesome barn painting! BYOB-We ll supply snacks $45 Limited Palette Painting Friday, Feb :30-3:30 Ever wonder how some artists come up with colors that you ve never seen? Learn to paint with a limited palette to create beautiful natural colors and grey tones that are unachievable in ready made tubes. Bring a small canvas or board and palette knives (available to use at studio). A list of colors will be available when you register. Teacher:Marlene Wood Fee: $60 Painting Glass and Copper Sunday, Feb. 11 Ages 15 adult 9:30-3:30 Learn how to create the illusion of glass or copper surfaces in your still life paintings. 15 An Important Note To Parents This year s annual Young at Art Gallery Exhibit and Reception will be on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 1:00-4:00. For those of you who are new to our program, this exhibit features original artwork by the children and teens of Positive Strokes. We would like our students to all participate in this fun and positive experience. I will need one or two pieces of artwork (framed and ready to hang {with a wire}) from each student. Little Picassos artwork (our 4-9 year old program) and 3D artwork (multi-media, pottery, etc.) does not need to be framed. Artwork should be signed or have the artists name (& age if you d like) on it and must be dropped off anytime throughout the last week of January to be hung. The show will hang throughout the months of January and February to give those who are unable to attend the opening a chance to view our young masters. Invitations will be available the last week of December -we welcome relatives, teachers, friends, etc. This is a special annual event for our children - we will be serving refreshments and honoring their wonderful artwork. Parents are welcome to donate treats for our opening. Please call me with any questions and plan to join us to celebrate the creativity of our young Masters. Let s show our children how PROUD we are of them!!! Page 15

16 Parties & Outings We offer parties and art outings for all ages - birthdays, scouts, play dates, adult and couples nights out, event parties, etc. Our most popular parties are painting, Pottery, wine parties and mosaics. Kids parties are 2 hours long - 1 1/2 hrs. for the project and 1/2 hr. for cake, etc. We supply all materials, our space and step by step instruction. Parents are responsible for any food, cake, etc. Minimum of 8 children at $15 per child. Scout outings are for 1 1/2 hours at $12 per child. Call for info on adult outings! Page 16

17 Graffiti and Grapes Grab some friends or loved ones and have a wine and painting, clay or mosaics party at Positive Strokes! You ll learn, have fun and go home with a finished masterpiece.
