1 The Platte County R-3 School District is excited to announce that Summer School will be held from June 1-June 28, General information about times, locations, transportation services, before/after school programing, and contact information can be found in the attached packet. Information about the High School program will be distributed in April. If you are interested in signing up your child for K-8 Summer School, please complete the enclosed enrollment form and transportation form and return it to your child s school by Friday, April 1, 2016.
2 K-8 SUMMER SCHOOL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What are the dates for summer school? June 1-June 28, What are the hours for summer school? 8:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. What grade is my child considered for summer school? The grade they will be entering into for the school year (i.e. 3 rd grader in school year will be enrolled as a 4 th grader for summer school). Is there a cost for attending summer school? No, there is no cost to attend summer school. Where are the summer school sites located? Barry School: Kindergarten 8 th grade (this year s Pathfinder and Barry students) Platte City Middle School: Kindergarten 5 th grade (this year s Rising Star, Siegrist, and Paxton students) Platte County High School: 6 th grade 8 th grade (this year s Paxton and Platte City Middle School students) Are meals provided during summer school? No food service is available during summer school; however, students may bring peanut-free snacks from home. Is transportation provided? Yes, transportation is provided at an abbreviated bus stop plan. Please see attached transportation schedule for bus stop locations. Is Y Club available during summer school? Yes, Y Club is available for a student attending summer school in grades Kindergarten 5 th grade while summer school is in session. Y Club will be held at Platte City Middle School and Pathfinder Elementary (students will be walked from Barry to Pathfinder for Y Club). How do I enroll my child for summer school? 7 SUMMER SCHOOL 2016 Y CLUB BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CHILDCARE The Platte County School District and the YMCA are partnering up once again to provide before and after school childcare for students entering grades K-5. Students who are attending summer school at our Barry School location will attend Y Club at Pathfinder and will walk over to Barry School before and after school under the supervision of Y Club employees. Students attending the K-5 program located at Platte City Middle School will also have Y Club at Platte City Middle School. Both sites will operate under the same hours from June 1st-June 28th while summer school is in session as stated below: Morning Session: 6:30 a.m.-8:00 a.m. Afternoon Session: 12:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Important Y Club Enrollment Information If you would like to enroll your child into the before/afterschool program during the weeks summer school is in session, you must complete the Y Club Summer School Registration form included in this packet and return it to 8205 W 108th Terrace #120 located in Overland Park, KS or by fax at (913) The due date to enroll your child into Y Club is Friday, April 22. Y Club representatives will provide a list of students enrolled to the school district to confirm that you have registered your child into Y Club. 9 Camper Name Before and After Summer School Payment and Registration Policies Please read carefully. Please note weekly fees will not be prorated for any reason. All non-eft payments of Before and After Summer School fees (less weekly deposit) are due one week prior to that week of Before and After Summer School by Tuesday. Any non-eft Before and After Summer School payments still unpaid the Wednesday prior to Before and After Summer School week will be subject to a $10 late fee and/or withdrawal from Before and After Summer School. Before and After Summer School registration closes Thursday at midnight for the following week of Before and After Summer School. Parents are responsible to pay all deposits and weekly fees regardless of attendance. Any registrations within one week of Before and After Summer School require full payment at the time of registration. All Before and After Summer School deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable, additional deposit will be required for any added Before and After Summer School weeks or transfer from one Before and After Summer School to another within the same week.
