Transcription
1 The Social Venture Academy (SVA) connects student social entrepreneurs with the resources and knowledge to make their social venture idea a reality. We accomplish this by guiding student teams through a three-part curriculum: idea validation, product development, and execution. Students who complete the curriculum earn the credibility of a venture that is sustainable, replicable, and impactful. The Social Venture Academy rewards social ventures at each level with monetary rewards (up to $18,000 per team) as well as connecting them with mentors that have approved and invested in their venture model. SVA leadership team members must commit to two semesters (Fall/Winter) of participation. They meet weekly and receive 1.5 credits per semester for their service on the leadership team (PGMT 693R or BUS M 490R). We are currently accepting applications for the Social Venture Academy leadership team for the 2014/2015 school year. There are a number of leadership and committee positions open to graduate and undergraduate students. 2 Organizational Chart
3 Leadership Positions SVA Student Director The Student Director oversees all aspects of the academy. With the help of the SVA leadership team, the Director will manage the operations of SVA and provide the organization s strategic vision. Job Functions include but may not be limited to: Conduct weekly SVA leadership team planning meetings Maintain positive relationships with all organizations housed in the Ballard Center Create and implement a strategic plan Attend bi-weekly Ballard Center staff meetings Compile report materials for the Ballard Center Manage and update Academy curriculum along with VP of Navigation Oversee SVA events with VP of Events, particularly the monthly Hangars Receive and organize reports from all VPs Oversee a strategic marketing plan to recruit new student venture teams Strong leadership skills Strong Organizational Skills Strategic Planning Ability to manage ambiguity
4 Vice President of Events The VP of Events will oversee all event logistics for the SVA including the kickoff, monthly Hangar meetings, and the closing event. Job Functions Include: Schedule rooms for monthly Hangars Create and maintain calendar of events with SVA leadership committee Purchase food for events Work with VP of Marketing to develop strategies to get more people to the events Work with VP of Navigation to ensure events are delivering value to SVA teams Find ways to make the events interactive and valuable for student teams Work with the Student Director to plan and execute the final competition in April Help create volunteer opportunities for students interested in helping with SVA Attend SVA leadership meetings to consult with Student Director on operations and strategic development Organizational Skills Event Planning Attention to Detail Works well with people
5 Vice President of Marketing The VP of Marketing is responsible for all of SVA s communications efforts. S/he will create and coordinate all marketing efforts for SVA, maintain the SVA website, and maintain the SVA mailing list. Our marketing strategy involves close coordination with educational centers around campus. Job functions will include but may not be limited to: Create and execute marketing plan to increase awareness across campus Create a sustainable, replicable marketing strategy Maintain relationships with campus centers that are gatekeepers to students Attain relationships with key campus-wide clubs and professors that will be meaningful feeder resources for SVA Compile and manage database of SVA partners (clubs, centers, and professors) Create marketing materials to be distributed across campus Create electronic marketing slides to market SVA Events Maintain and frequently update SVA list Attend Hangar meetings each month Contact external publicity media outlets with success stories Attend SVA leadership meetings to consult with SVA Student Director on operations and strategic development Strategic Planning Organizational Skills Basic knowledge of Public Relations preferred Design Skills Preferred
6 Vice President of Navigation The VP of Navigation oversees the progress of all student venture teams. S/he will manage the mentorship of all teams from intake to exit. Job Functions Include: Screen prospective student teams to promote SVA and determine fit Coordinate judging and team progress with leadership team at large Maintain and update a student venture teams list Recruit and train navigators as new teams join the academy Develop training materials for new navigators Meet with navigators to provide training Receive and report weekly update on student venture teams progress Attend SVA leadership meetings to consult with SVA Student Director on operations and strategic development Manage exit process of student venture teams Work closely with the competition faculty advisor to determine the judging needs for each stage Coordinates with the Ballard Center issues related to distributing prizes for winners Strong organizational skills Self-starter/comfortable with ambiguity Ability to organize/motivate people Ability to maintain positive relationships with judges Maintain a professional relationship with judges and social innovators
