1 Study Abroad Financial Information 2014/2015 for exchange students in Canada When starting the initial process for selecting where you would like to study, please do take into account the amount of the financial guarantee required; the size and location of the university; the climate and the recreational facilities available. Please note that the costs for 2015/16 are not yet available. In the meantime, we suggest you add between 3 % and 5% to the current cost. As soon as these figures become available, we will update the website. You also need to make sure that the University of your choice has modules (classes) that appeal to you. For most universities, you need to look at the 300 and 400 range. Many of our partner institutions do not issue their financial information until the beginning of the calendar year so please use the following information as a guide only. Check regularly for updates on financial information. Students do not have to pay any tuition fees to the host university. Please note there will be tuition fees payable to the University of Kent. For those going abroad for one semester, the full tuition fee will be payable. If you are going abroad for a year, then students are currently charged 15% of the full tuition fee. Please note that some Canadian universities will not accept Kent s free insurance and you will have to purchase the host university s mandatory medical insurance policy. Visa Requirement and Financial Guarantee Students going to Canada for a full academic year will need a visa and to certify approximately $10,000 CAD to satisfy their visa requirements. Those who are going for semester only will not need a visa and therefore do not need to provide a financial guarantee but they will need to make sure they can afford the term abroad. We recommend approximately $5000 CAD to cover this. Students going to Montreal will also need to apply for a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (QAC) before applying for their visa.

September intake only. The fees for on campus Trent residence will depend on the specific residence and meal plan options. For guaranteed accommodation, applications must be received by 1 st June. More information on the different types of on campus residence can be found here Off campus housing is also available if you would prefer Meal Plans Students assigned to rooms in DeCew, Vallee, Earp and Lowenberger must purchase a meal plan. UHIP is a mandatory health plan that all international students must enroll and pay for. UHIP is not an insurance or drug plan. It is a health plan that allows students to use the service of visiting doctors.
