1 German Indonesian Renewable Energy Days Case Study Palm Oil Industry In Indonesia Presented by : Ario Senoaji PT Gistec Prima Energindo Intercontinental Hotel MidPlaza 25 October 2011
2 A COUNTRY WITH AROUND ISLAND
3 Renewable Energy (RE) Development Challenges High initial investment cost High production cost that cannot compete with the conventional technology Lack of incentives and smart funding mechanisms Energy subsidy removal (subsidies have created an unfair market advantage for conventional fuels and technologies) Formulating energy price based on its economic value (electricity prices not reflect the true cost of generating power) Quantifying externality costs
4 Advantages 1. Abundant of RE/Biomass Potential in Indonesia 2. RE/Biomass available throughout the year 3. Indonesia is an Archipelago Country which is have barrier in Fuel Supply and electricity Transmission/ Distribution 4. There are 4700 units Diesel Power Plants scattered own by PLN with total capacity 1350 MW will be substituted by other resources
