3 General instructions Read the entire user guide before assembling and operating the trough auger conveyor. If the purchaser makes any technical changes to the conveyor, the declaration of conformity issued by the producer will become invalid. The guarantee is only valid if the following conditions are met: Assembly, operation and servicing in accordance with this users guide The trough auger conveyor is manufactured for use in horizontal transport of grain and nearly all agricultural corn/cereal, seed and flour-like products. Operate the trough auger conveyor only with safety motor or safety star delta switch (motor overload protector) Documented compliance to routine periodic maintenance procedures Use only of the manufacturers original reserve parts The manufacturer maintains the right to make technical changes. Safety instructions Instructions and especially safety information must be read thoroughly before assembling, operating, servicing and maintaining the appliance. All appliances and components must be assembled in accordance with the relevant regulations for prevention of accidents. Connection of the delivered trough auger conveyor to the electric power source must be undertaken by an authorised electrician. Devices for the prevention of accidents or removal of risk must be regularly maintained. Safety fittings which are removed during repair, cleaning or maintenance work must be secured into place again before the auger conveyor is taken into use again. During every repair electric power must be disconnected to avoid someone accidentally turning on the appliance. While the trough auger is in use you must not put your hand into either the inlet or outlet openings or into the inspection window/slide valve. The user must only use the appliance when it is in total working order and must report immediately any changes that have an effect on safety. The manufacturer is not responsible for damage that arises from incorrect use of, or technical changes to, the appliance; or if the user guidelines are not followed. 3

4 Explanation of hazard labels Before repair, maintenance and cleaning work the motor must be turned off and the electric plug pulled out. Moving machine parts can be dangerous. They must only be touched when all parts are completely still. Residual risk The auger conveyor is manufactured in accordance to the relevant safety regulations for trough augers. If these regulations are disregarded trough augers can be a danger to the user s or other person s life and limb. 4

7 Assembly The trough auger conveyor is delivered in separate parts. Before starting to assemble check that all the parts are complete and delivered in accordance with the order. Remove the cover of the trough auger extension (basic unit). Mount the bearing plates for the motor console by the outlet and attach the auger to the pulley axle (see fig. 1). Extra troughs are screwed securely in the same way (all bolts are initially screwed on manually). When the entire trough is assembled and straightened up screw the bolts tight. Figure 1 Screw the shaft connections firmly to the inner auger. Assemble intermediate bearing (see fig. 2). Assemble further inner auger extensions in a similar way. Adjust the height of the intermediate bearings so that the inner auger does not touch the trough (distance from trough about 3 mm). Figure 2 7

8 Mount the end bearing cap (see fig. 3). When the whole auger is assembled and positioned, tighten all the screws. Figure 3 Mount cover and angle console onto the trough; fasten the motor console to angle and bearing plate. Put the eye screws on to the motor console (fig. 4). Mount the motor onto the motor console. The pulley tension unit is turned completely down. Assemble the V-grooved pulley and taperlock bushes loosely. Push the large pulley onto the driving shaft and screw into place with two threaded pins. Push the little pulley onto the motor shaft. Ensure that the 2 pulleys are aligned with each other. 9 Taperlock Figure 5 In order to secure the belt drive pulley to the axle, tighten threaded pins in the 2 opposite holes (position 1) In order to loosen the taper-lock bush screw out the threaded pins, screw one of these threaded pins in again into the third hole (position 2) and tighten. 2 1 Finally assemble extra outlet, inlet and sliding valve if necessary. In order to add a valve an extra outlet needs to be mounted first. When assembling an extra outlet it is necessary to cut a hole beforehand in the bottom of the trough with an angle grinder. 9

10 Electrical equipment Connection to the electric power supply of the device supplied by us must only be undertaken by an authorised electrician. During installation be aware of the voltage and information provided on the advisory label. Connect the terminals of the motor according to the instructions. The motor is protected by a safety cut-out switch and a lockable main cut-out switch, otherwise the guarantee from the motor manufacturer is nullified (safety and main cut-outs are not included in the delivery). If a frequency converter is installed, it is essential to accurately abide by the information on the converter and advisory label. When the trough auger is connected, check the direction of travel is in accordance with the arrow. Figure 6 Operation During operation of the trough auger, the relevant regulations for prevention of accidents must be observed. Add materials to be transported by the trough auger conveyor and check that it freely runs out of the outlet. Avoid as much as possible running the trough auger empty, as it causes considerable wear of the intermediate bearings and the auger will run more nosily. During normal usage the trough auger will be filled to halfway up the auger; however the height of the contents will depend upon the transported material. 10

11 Maintenance During maintenance work all prescribed safety regulations must be observed. Lubrication of the intermediate bearings regularly after hours of functioning in lubrication nipples Pulley belt tension needs to be checked every 3rd month. With frequent use, check every month. If the tension can be no longer be adjusted then the belt must be replaced. The inner augers wear out dependent upon how much grit there is in the material being transported. Once a year check for wear and damage. The inner augers can be damaged by foreign objects such as lumps of wood, iron or stones. If there are foreign objects stuck in the auger these must be removed using appropriate tools but under no circumstances manually. It is necessary to dismantle the trough auger and replace inner auger if it is too worn. To do t his remove the covers, loosen the bolts on the trough and inner auger. The worn parts are removed but the bolts may be reusable. Replace with a new inner auger. The electric motor is of sufficient size that it will not be overloaded under normal functioning, if the unit is correctly assembled and installed. The motor safety switch will disconnect the electricity supply if the motor runs hot or if there is a fault in the electricity supply. Fuses and the motor safety switch must be checked and when necessary replaced by an electrician. 11
