The Northern School of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy in collaboration with the Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust is pleased to host this one day CPD conference. The aim of the day is to develop participants understanding and thinking about psychoanalytic concepts and clinical descriptions relating to narcissism across the life cycle. It is particularly relevant for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, Adult Psychotherapists, Psychoanalysts, Psychodynamic Psychotherapists and other interested mental health professionals. 2 About The Conference This conference brings together experienced psychoanalytic clinicians to consider the complexities of narcissism across the lifecycle, and also its manifestations in politics and society. It provides an opportunity for participants to hear high quality presentations and engage in discussion with colleagues. Conference Aims: To increase participants understanding of psychoanalytic concepts of narcissism To locate participants understanding of narcissism within a wider societal context To develop participants understanding of manifestations of narcissism in relation to developmental life stages Who Should Attend? Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, Adult Psychotherapists, Psychoanalysts, Psychodynamic Psychotherapists and other interested mental health professionals Speakers Anne Hurley, Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. Anne Hurley is Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust where she manages psychoanalytic training programmes. She is also Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist in Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. She was Co-Editor of the Journal of Child Psychotherapy from Marianne Parsons, Adult and Child Psychoanalyst and Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. Marianne was Head of Clinical Training at the Anna Freud Centre, Editor of the Journal of Child Psychotherapy, and Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist in the NHS at the Portman Clinic, London. She has contributed several papers to books and journals, and teaches on various child and adolescent psychoanalytic trainings in the UK and abroad. Ken Robinson, Psychoanalyst. Ken Robinson is a Psychoanalyst in private practice in Newcastle upon Tyne, a member of the British Psychoanalytical Society and Visiting Professor of Psychoanalysis at Northumbria University. He is a training analyst for child and adolescent and adult psychotherapy in the North of England and lectures, teaches and supervises in the UK and Europe. His paper, His majesty the ego: the tragic narcissism of King Lear s crawl towards death was published in He has provided the introduction to the first volume of the Collected Works of Winnicott, and has recently published an essay on the nature of psychoanalytic listening. Phillip Stokoe, Psychoanalyst. Philip Stokoe is a Psychoanalyst in private practice working with adults and couples, and an Organisational Consultant, providing consultation to a wide range of organisations. He was a Consultant Social Worker and Senior Lecturer in the Adult Department of the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust between 1994 and He was the Clinical Director of the Adult Department from 2007 to He has a reputation as a successful teacher and has taught and written about the application of psychoanalysis in a wide range of settings.
