2 About SPC-West Bengal State Productivity Council West Bengal (SPC-WB), formerly known as Calcutta Productivity Council, is a pioneer organization in the field of consultancy and training established jointly by Govt. of India through National Productivity Council and State Government under the Societies Registration Act XXI of It is an autonomous body, multipartite in its constitution with State Chief Minister as its Ex-Officio President. It is aided by Government of West Bengal and Central Government. It has been formed primarily to provide a forum for co-operation among Labour, Management, Government and Professional Specialists from various productivity in all walks of life in this region of the country. About IASLIC IASLIC (Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres), the national professional body in the field of library and information Science and services enjoys the patronage of the MHRD, DST, CSIR, DRDO, RRRLF and other departments of the GOI. It receives financial assistance from them for carrying on its professional activities for the benefit of the society. Energy, resources and information being the three distinct ingredients for all developmental processes, IASLIC has been laying a crucial role by way of stimulating the informational activities of the special libraries and information centers, spread in the Ministries Departments, Science and Technological Research Institutions, Corporate houses, Academic and Research Centers etc. IASLIC encourages and promotes the systematic acquisition, organization and dissemination of knowledge, the key capital for growth and development of the economy. As its social objective it organizes courses and programmes for development of manpower for effective utilization in any situation. Objective of the course The growth, development and productivity of any organization fully depend on the quality of its people employed. Te quality of the employees in an organization, constitutes the key factor for its growth, stability, equity, acceleration and development. This quality entails knowledge, attitudes, values and skills to respond to new opportunities to adjust oneself to drive to handle, manage and perform any tasks and responsibilities. Efficiency, productivity and quality of performance in any field of activity primarily depend upon one s personal efficiency which means The sum total of ways in which an individual reacts and interacts with others. Again the term communication can be construed as one s gauging and understanding any situation, event need, demand and requirement of any individual and organization and at the same time ability to communicate orally, in writing, and listening. The present course aims to create, develop and enrich the personalities, mindsets, attitudes and communication skill of the employees of any organizations manufacturing and service units, profit and non profit ones rendering to them the capability of performing effectively.

3 Personality THE COURSE CURRICULUM What, why and how, dimensions and types of personality Development of Personality Positive attitude, self confidence and assertiveness Self Management Practice Introspection and self analysis, goal setting and prioritization activities, psychological perusal, meditation and concentration development. Stress Management Tracing of stress and processes for its removal Systematic Time Management Steps for time management, controlling paper work, combating time wasters, utilization of time with other people. Value and Ethics in Individuals and Organizations Processes for its application and maintenance, imbibing of some of the excerpts of Chanakya Neeti, Hitopodesha, Panchatantra Maxims and proverbs. Communication Skill Development Understanding communication, what to communicate and what not to communicate. Oral Communication Conversation skill, communication with boss, dyadic communication, telephonic conversation. Presentation Skill Public speaking, meetings, seminars, symposiums, conferences, groups and informal communications. Written Communication Use of words and sentences in English Language, writing of notes, memorandum, Minutes and proceedings of the meetings, letters, circulars, reports, technical reports, messages, speeches, management digests etc. Non-Verbal Communication Body language, silence, symbols etc. Listening Skills Nature of listening, challenges of effective listening, developing listening skill. Faculty and Resource Persons The faculty and resource persons will be drawn from Universities, IIM, B- Schools and Practising Managers from industries. Duration of the course 3 months: 7 credits, 70 hours Class Work: 4 credits; GD & Workshop: 2 credits; Project work: 1 credit. Timing and date of Commencement of The course The course will be conducted in the evening on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 6.30 to 8.30 P.M. from 15 Feb 2012 to 15 May 2012.

(10+2+3) with Professional degree like BLIS, Diploma in HRM, Marketing, Material Management and in any other professional discipline. Or, Graduation with 2 years working experience in any relevant field. Course Fees Rs. 7000/- per person for sponsored candidates Rs. 6000/- per person for non sponsored candidates Rs. 5000/- per person for SPC-WB and IASLIC members Rs. 5000/- each if joins in a group of at least 5 persons. Mode of Payment Payment should be made by DD/Cheque duly drawn in favour of State Productivity Council- West Bengal Course Materials The course materials will be supplied to the participants Evaluation Process The course being practice oriented, the participants would be evaluated on the basis of their performance in the class work, GD, Workshop and Project Work.
