2 Overall protection for every hospital. The Siemens solutions manage the complete security-related infrastructure of a hospital. The widely ramified network of the system provides for the highest level of security. We offer the necessary modules for complete, integrated solutions and a rich variety of applications. Video surveillance The video surveillance system verifies the positioning of vehicles, especially in front of the emergency admission. Any critical deviations, for example parking offenders, are detected automatically. Intrusion protection Protection against burglary, theft, unauthorized access and tamper we offer a complete range of alarm devices for each room and at the customer s option. Access control The access control system provides for the safe and flexible management of access authorization, time recording and badge generation. Moreover, it can be combined with all our security systems. And the three levels with iris or fingerprint scanner, access control reader and access control badge provide for maximum security. Baby surveillance Our baby surveillance system for the application in the baby ward is the most comprehensive security system that is currently available on the market, designed to protect the newborns against kidnapping and from being mixed up accidentally. The comfortable, portable identification tags enable the surveillance staff to permanently identify the location both of mother and child and to reunite them at any time. General fire protection The fire detection system permanently and reliably monitors all premises of a hospital. Even dense smoke from cigarettes is detected and classified as not dangerous, without triggering alarm. 2

3 Control of fresh air and exhaust air The air sampling smoke detection system verifies the fresh and exhaust air in ventilation and air conditioning ducts. In case of smoke, the system immediately triggers alarm, and the extinguishing system intervenes automatically in the zone in account. Special fire detection The high-sensitivity smoke detection system protects special-purpose facilities, for example data processing rooms, distributing centers or other high-tech facilities. Highly sensitive sensors detect even the most minimal smoke concentration and trigger the gas extinguishing system. Emergency power unit for fire detection systems Neither hot engines nor diesel waste gas can deceive interactive fire detection system. The security system remains active even when diesel generators are in operation, and it reliably prevents false alarms. Fire protection of the air conditioning system The detection is monitored fully automatically: In case of fire with any kind of material, alarm is triggered immediately. Gas detection Our early warning systems trigger alarm before the concentration of explosive or toxic gases reaches a harmful level, leaving enough time to react accordingly within the defined alarm organization. Extinguishing The extinguishing systems by Siemens give fire no chance. The focus is both on the protection of people and infrastructure, and on the conservation of the hospital s archives with the medical files. Moreover, nitrogen as a dry extinguishing agent has the advantage that servers and air conditioning systems can be continuously operated while the interference factors are eliminated. 3

4 Operational safety for people, data and infrastructure. Permanent surveillance Different services like laundry, hospital kitchen, maintenance work, or the updating of hardware and software may affect security systems. As this often leads to false alarms, the security systems concerned are frequently switched off during such processes. The Siemens solutions operate absolutely trouble-free and never need to be shut down and restarted: They remain continuously in operation. Protection against false alarms With gases, motions or noise, our systems distinguish between typical and atypical phenomena. Among the typical phenomena are the movements of people penetrating a room at night. False alarms, however, are usually generated by atypical phenomena. These range from cigarette smoke to electromagnetic fields generated by mobile telephones. While these phenomena may cause false alarms with other systems, Siemens systems only release genuine alarms. This increases operational safety and avoids unnecessary disturbance of employees. Protection against fire Our systems detect a fire as soon as it is generated, and before it can develop into a flaming fire. To ensure this, multi-criteria detectors evaluate the development of a signal both optically and on the basis of temperature variations. Intensity, increase and fluctuation of the signal are decisive factors. The system is able to detect real flaming fires, which do not generate a significant amount of heat, for example in small kitchens or in the hospital rooms. And even for the protection of IT systems we offer appropriate solutions. Protection against fire damage Where early warning systems and dry extinguishing systems can be combined, we offer highly flexible solutions for every type of hospital: From individual solutions for a certain extinguishing sector to multiple-sector systems fed by one extinguishing battery. Protection against explosion and toxication Many gases are explosive or toxic. In this business segment we offer state-of-the-art gas warning systems, which are unique in their detection features for various gases. Some application examples include parking garages, sterilization systems or heating systems. Intrusion protection Our intrusion protection systems detect violent penetration of rooms, facilities or objects, e.g. power generators, strongrooms, server rooms or sectors requiring access authorization. We install the most suitable system for the situation and application in account. The product range covers motion and noise sensors, early warning systems and video surveillance. And by the way, our systems can be easily operated by non-specialized staff. Protection against unauthorized access The centrally controlled access control system, individually allocating access authorization to persons and zones, is equally comfortable. In particular, the systems secures areas for visitors and employees, data processing facilities, offices, service and storage rooms. And lost keys are no longer a problem: Neither locks nor keys need to be replaced the system simply blocks lost batches. Local and central monitoring station Any type of alarm is first transmitted to the inhouse security service, who initiate the corresponding measures. If this local monitoring station does not react within a predefined period of time (for example, at night), the alarm signal is automatically transmitted to an external, permanently staffed central monitoring station, where security experts initiate and monitor all necessary emergency aid measures.
