Existing Application that uses concepts learnedwill be demonstrated in class to understand the use of concepts in real life application. 4 List of Experiments Tutorial 1: Java Database Connectivity (4 Labs) 1) Create following tables in mysql Student enrollment_no, name, branch, semester. User user_id, password, _address. 2) Develop a Java program to insert a record into tables created in above tutorial using JDBC. Take all the inputs from user using command line argument. 3) Develop a Java program to display all the records in tables created in above tutorial using JDBC. 4) Create a Java program to update name of a student having a particular enrollment number. Get new name and enrollment number from user. 5) Demonstrate the use of PreparedStatement to check whether user_id and password are correct or not. Take user_id and password from user. 6) Create a stored procedure in mysql to delete a student from from table having particular enrollment number. Take enrollment number as an argument. 7) Develop a Java program to call the stored procedure created in above tutorial. Accept enrollment number from user. 8) Create a table called Account having account_number, account_name and amount columns. Also create stored procedure to transfer XXX amount from one account to another account number and returns the available balance in depositor's account. 9) Develop a Java Program to call stored procedure created in above tutorial and display available balance on console. Take both account numbers and amount from user using Scanner class. Tutorial 2: Network and Distributed Programming (4 Labs) 1) Create a Date Client and Server applications using Socket. 4

5 2) Develop an echo Client and Server applications using Socket. 3) Develop a Client application which sends username and password to Server. Develop a Server application which checks whether username and password are correct or not and responds with an appropriate message. Use Socket and ServerSocket classes. 4) Develop a Client Sever application which transfer file from server to client. Filename is given by the client. Use Socket and ServerSocket classes. 5) Develop a Client application which sends a string to server. Server application should reverse string entered by the client and reply with the reversed string. Use DatagramSocket to develop both. 6) Create an RMI application to perform addition, multiplication of two numbers. 7) Develop an RMI application in which client sends a string and server replies with the reverse string. Tutorial 3: Serialization and Internationalization (3 Labs) 1) Design a class Student having data members name,branch,semester, id and collegename. Create getters and setters methods. Create a Java class to store the object of a Student class in a file called 'students.ser'. 2) Develop a Java Program to read the object of Student class stored in file in above program and display information of student on console. 3) Design a class Address having data members city,state and country. Create getters and setters methods. Add Address as a property of Student class which has been created in previous programs. Create a Java class to store the object of a Student class in a file called 'students.ser'. Also develop a Java class to read the object and display information of a student with address on the console. 4) Demonstrate the use of transient keyword using sample program. 5) Develop a Java program which display current date and time according to the culture of a user. Give options to choose country and language to user. 5

6 6) Develop a Java program which display a product information like productid, productname, and productprice. Allow user to choose the country and language and based on selected country and language show price of product. 7) Design an application that greets user with welcome message. Allow user to choose country and language he/she belongs to and display welcome message in an appropriate language. Tutorial 4: Design Pattern (4 Labs) 1) Demonstrate the use of Factory design pattern with suitable example. 2) Design a sample application which uses singleton design pattern. 3) Identify an application where iterator design pattern can be used. Also implement the application. 4) Design an application to demonstrate the use of Adapter design pattern. 5) Identify the situation where you can use object pool design pattern and implement it using JAVA. Tutorial 5: Servlet Programming (4 Labs) 1) Install and configure apache tomcat. Also develop a sample web application with required directory structure. 2) Develop a servlet which prints Welcome to RK University. 3) Create a servlet which accepts two integer number from user and print all the prime numbers between those two numbers. 4) Design a user registration form using HTML. Develop a servlet which validates the data submitted through this form and display appropriate messages. If user has submitted valid data then simply display the submitted information. 5) Demonstrate the use of RequestDispatcher with suitable example. 6) Demonstrate the use of session by implementing Login and Logout module of an application. 6

7 7) Design a Servlet that displays number of users currently logged into your web application. Use session related events for performing task. 8) Develop a servlet context event handler which creates all the necessary database tables when the application is deployed onto the server. URL of the database, database username and password has to be taken from web.xml file. 9) Design a Filter which allows only specified IP addresses to make request to your web application. Specify IP addresses which are allowed, in web.xml file. Tutorial: 6 Java Server Pages (6 Labs) 1) Develop a JSP page to display current date and time. Date has to be displayed in DD/MM/YYYY, HH:MM:SS format. 2) Create a JSP page that display the number of hits to the page. 3) Develop a JSP page which takes one number from user as request parameter and produce a table of that number in response. 4) Demonstrate the use of JSP implicit objects by implementing sample application. 5) Develop four JSP pages index.jsp, home.jsp, footer.jsp and header.jsp. Using four pages create an application which does following. When user sends request to index.jsp forward the request to home.jsp using <jsp:forward> Include header.jsp and footer.jsp into home.jsp at appropriate places. 6) Create an application where user can enter two numbers using HTML Form. Application should display division of both the number. If division by zero error occurs user should be automatically redirected to error page and error page should display a custom message describing the error. 7) Create an application using servlet and JSP to perform the following A servlet puts an Object of Person bean into session scope. Same servlet will redirect the user to a jsp page. The jsp page should display the information of a Person using JSP - EL 7

8 8) Develop a JSP page to display the table of number using JSTL core tags. Number should be entered by the user. 9) Create a JSP page to display student information from database. Also provide search facility to search a student based on enrollment number. Use SQL Tags to perform the task. 10) Develop an Application for following requirement. User must be able to enter a String and type of operation that it wants to perform like convert to uppercase, convert to lowercase, find substring etc. Develop a JSP page that performs all the operation listed above using JSTL functions library. 11) Develop a custom tag as per following: <mytag:printdate /> The tag should display current date and time on JSP page. 12) Develop a custom tag as per following. <mytag:findcube number= XX var= YY /> The tag should find the cube of a number specified by number attribute and store it in a variable specified by the var attribute. Tutorial: 7 Struts and Hibernate (3 Labs) 1) Demonstrate the use of hibernate to store and retrieve data from database. 2) Demonstrate the steps required to create sample struts application by developing helloworld application. 3) Create a user registration, Login and Logout modules using struts and hibernate. Also provide struts server side validation to validate the registration data. Also ask user to upload profile picture. Use hibernate to perform database operations. Tutorial 8: Mini Project 8
