1 Insallaion Insrucions Taylor Enrance Sysems Professional Remodeler Series Pre-hung Replacemen Uni All seel frame, fully insulaed wih magneic weaher-srip and adjusable hreshold. The Professional Remodeler Series doors shall be (flush or embossed) 1.75" hick formed of 24-gauge galvanized seel on he Uni-Door and 22-gauge galvanized seel on he Sainable Seel door, siffened, insulaed and sound-deadened wih an environmenally friendly solid urehane core blown a a densiy of lbs./sq. f. The doors shall be formed uilizing an exclusive uniized (2) wo-piece seel consrucion for srengh and durabiliy. Door shall be fied wih 4.25" x 11.25" solid core wood lock block. Edge of door a lock block shall accep sandard 1" x 2.25" recangular face lach bol or round face lach bol. Door shall also have 12-gauge galvanized seel plaes locaed a each hinge (hree per door) o allow for fine adjusmens afer door is in place wihou removal of door from opening. Door boom weaher-srip reainer shall be roll formed from 22-gauge ho dipped galvanized seel and mechanically fasened o boom member. All surfaces of he door shall receive a facory prime finish for added proecion. The primed surface shall be suiable for finish paining. The Sainable Seel door will be primed wih a special beige primer ha acceps sains or pain. 2 Sep 1 Check door opening for size and swing Measure he heigh and widh of your old door and check o see wheher i swings o he righ or o he lef. Check he size and swing of your new door and make sure if corresponds wih your old door. Sep 2 Closer look a he door opening Check he exising door jamb o make sure ha i will receive a 1-3/4" door properly. Noe: You may have o cu he rabbi ou of he jamb. Check he heigh of he header, i may need o be buil down or cu o receive he door properly. Rabbi Check o see if he door casing is in good enough condiion o be reused, or if i needs o be replaced. Sep 3 Removal of he old door and hardware Pull he hinge pins and remove he door from he jamb. Remove all hinges and lock srike from he inside of he door jamb. Remove exising rim by scoring he pain join on he drywall side of he rim. Then, wih a puy knife, or hin chisel, pry from he door opening side so as you do no mar he drywall. Replace he rim if i is damaged. Old Casing

3 You may need o chisel a small amoun of he jamb for hreshold clearance. Remove wih chisel for hreshold clearance if necessary Check for any roing or warping, his may be a sign of waer leakage and you may wan o invesigae he problem. Remove any old weaher-sripping. Clean he floor and jamb or all dir and old caulking. Sep 4 Double check he opening size Check he opening for size again. Wih some older homes ha have seled, he frame may bow inward a lile. You may need o rim a lile off he rabbied edge wih your circular saw. (Noe: Use a carbide blade in your skill saw because here may be old nails in he wood.) Sep 5 ing hreshold Bring he new door o opening being careful no o scrach your new door. Apply a heavy bead of caulk o he hreshold and boom of he door jamb as shown. 2" 1-1/4" Apply caulk horoughly o preven waer leakage

4 Sep 6 Cener door in opening Cener he door in he opening. Mark he cener of he jamb and line i up wih he cener of he new door frame. New Frame Shipping bracke Shipping bracke Tack wo 6d nails in each corner o hold he door in place. Remove shipping brackes and plasic shipping proecor. Check he door again for swing and cenering. Sep 7 Anchoring he door Afer he door is cenered, anchor he door in place. Firs, nail hrough he meal door frame on he hinge side in he holes provided. Place a nail in he op hole of he lock side. Then close he door and eye he margin down he side, you may need o ap he frame a lile o adjus i. Run he six 2-1/2" wood screws provided ino he wo screw holes in each hinge. (Noe: Be careful in ighening he screws as o no wis or bow he frame). Close he door and check he margin again. If he margin is fine, finish nailing he frame on he lock side checking margin as ofen as possible. Six screws Drill pilo holes for he 2-1/2" wood screws for he lock side and run he screws in. You may need o work back and forh beween he nailing and screwing, checking he margin beween he frame and door.

5 Sep 8 Adjusing he hinges for plumb Open he door and loosen he four screws on all hinges on he door side. Slide he door up and down and/or move i in and ou as necessary o square in he frame. Use a pry bar under he door o lif i, bu ake care o no damage he rubber weaher-srip on he boom of he door. You may wan o mark he Adjus up & down, in & ou Weaher-srip hinge wih a pencil so you can always reurn o he original posiion. Sep 9 Insall locks and srike plae Once he door is anchored and adjused properly, insall he locks and srike plae. The dead bol has a small meal box, a receiver, for he dead bol. Chisel ou an opening for his and insall he srike plae. The lock srike is adjusable, so you can adjus i for a proper fi laer. Nex insall he locks and dead bol ino he door. For insallaion insrucions, refer o he manufacurer s insrucions ha come wih hem. Adjus he srike plae for proper fi. Sep 10 Insalling he weaher-srip Three wood sops wih weaher-srip are provided, wo long and one shor. Measure beween he wood jambs a he header and cu he srip o fi i.

6 Close he door and use i for a guide. Tack he srip in place and open he door. The magneic weaher-srip should make good conac wih he door, bu no bind or press oo igh. Close he door and check conac. Finish nailing he header srip. Nail his side o jamb. Now place a piece of paper or cardboard beween he hreshold and he jamb on he lock side. Mark he angle of he hreshold and cu he weaher-srip accordingly. Measure he lock side and cu he srip o fi, remember o cu he angle on he boom o mach he hreshold. When you cu he rubber par of he srip, cu a he same angle as he wood o ensure a igh fi. Enclosed in he bag of Saple in pars is a small srip of rubber. I places shown fis in he second channel behind he magne a he boom end of he weaher-srip. This helps he srip mainain good conac wih he base of he door. Using a universal office sapler, saple he magne in place as shown. Make sure he weaher-srip fis he header srip wihou gaps and nail in place. Remember o firs ack, make adjusmens, and finish nailing. S C C

7 Sep 11 Adjusing hreshold Close he door o see how he hreshold and boom of he door mee. There are hree ses of screws in he hreshold. The hree smaller screws are o raise and lower he sill. The larger screws are o anchor he assembly o he base. Loosen he anchor screws o allow movemen. Then raise or lower he sill. Repea he process unil you are saisfied wih he seal. Do no make i oo igh or he seal will wear ou - oo loose and you will have air leaks. When you have a snug fi, ighen he anchor screws wih a screwdriver. Sep 12 Final weaher-srip There are wo more small pieces of weaher-srip provided. The black compression ype is for he hinge side, he one ha resembles a piece of Velcro is for he srike side. New Weaher-srip New Weaher-srip Peel he paper backing off and place hese on he boom of he jamb agains he hreshold as shown. Sep 13 ing he door he door along he door sops and hreshold as shown.

8 Sep 14 Reinsalling rim Replace inside door casing as necessary. Use exising holes if possible. I may be necessary o drill pilo holes hrough he seel frame of he new door in order o nail casing in place. T Finishing insrucions Your Taylor door has a facory applied primer coa of pain, he door should be free of dus and debris. For bes resuls, he ouside and inside and all edges of he door should be pained wih a good qualiy exerior grade laex pain. CAUTION: Use of pains conaining linseed oil, lacquer or alkyd base solvens voids he warrany on his door. Do no pain vinyl weaher-srip. Allow pain o dry compleely before closing door o preven marking finish by weaher-srip. All plasic rim and window lies should be pained or hey will change color and may deeriorae wih age. WARNING: Use of sorm doors, unless well venilaed, may cause a hea build-up and a disorion of designs.
