The wood-fired sauna, as any aficionado will tell you, is the greatest sauna experience you can treat yourself to. Kastor has been crafting wood-fired sauna heaters more than 100 years. We know what it takes to create the most relaxing, pleasurable and healthful sauna experience imaginable. 9 COANDA AIR CIRCULATION SYSTEM Air channels between the outer mantle and the core guide the air heated in the firebox through slits into the stone compartment. The result is quick, smooth heating of the sauna stones which, in turn, ensures plenty of steam and effective heat circulation for the sauna. As the fire dies down, the firebox walls cool and the air stops rising into the stone compartment (the Coanda effect). This keeps the cooling effect away from the stones, helping them retain their heat longer. AIR CIRCULATION SYSTEM All new CE-marked Kastor heaters are equipped with an innovative new air circulation system that directs the heat towards the top end of the firebox. This innovation makes your Kastor heater more durable than any conventional stove. DEEP AND OPEN STONE COMPARTMENTS Water should come in contact with hot stones not metal to generate billows of soft, rich steam. Our sauna stoves are designed with deep and wide stone compartments that ensure water hits the stones without contacting the metal walls and cooling the heat source. Besides smoother steam output, the deep stone wells store more heat more effectively, saving on wood. 9

10 Upon heating, the fiery air first flows to the stone compartment, and from there to the flue. As a result, the sauna stones turn red-hot fast. Air flowing through the heater immediately fills the sauna room with smooth, pleasant steam, when a ladle of water is thrown on the stones. Due to the innovative combustion system, the heater is more efficient than conventional stoves. Wood consumption is kept to a minimum and the sauna stones rapidly reach bathing temperature. The stones reserve energy efficiently, producing pleasant heat for the entire sauna room when you open the lid on top of the stove. By closing the lid afterwards, you can retain the heat inside the stove and continue bathing for hours and hours. 10

11 FERO Innovation meets tradition The new Fero is an eco-friendly woodburning heater with efficient wood use and low emissions. The innovative heatstoring sauna stove is first pre-heated for roughly 1.5 hours to make even the upper sauna stones turn red. When the combustion is fully complete and the chimney dampers still open, the sauna room and heat are quickly ventilated after throwing a ladle of water on the stones, and then the damper and upper lid are closed*. And you are ready for a traditional Finnish sauna experience, as preferred by true sauna lovers. 22 Chimneys The chimney is not only a very necessary part of the fireplace or sauna heater, it can also be a décor and mood addition. Best of all, you don't have to be a DIY guru or an engineering expert to install one. Kastor modular chimneys can be simple to build using our easy step-bystep instructions. The parts are guaranteed to fit and you do not need special tools to attach them. Kastor modular chimneys are high quality, safe, and CE-certified. The internal piping in Kastor modular chimneys is made of stainless steel to withstand heat, cold, moisture and flue gases. We use stone wool material for insulation and the outer mantle is powder-painted or finished in stainless steel. With Kastor modular chimneys, almost any room or building can be equipped with a fireplace. Just remember to ask the relevant authorities about local building ordinances first. 22

Installation is based on one simple principle: use the modules to assemble exactly the chimney you need by adding piece by piece from the fireplace connection up to the rain cover on top. 33 Minimum chimney height A If the chimney passes through the sloped surface of the roof anywhere other than in the proximity of the ridge, 10 cm is added to the chimney length, calculated from the ridge, per metre from the ridge. B The chimney height can be ascertained by connecting the point 0.8 m above the vertical roof s highest point, above the vertical eaves, with the point at the level of the roof s highest point. C The safe distance is regarded as having been satisfied when the chimney passes through the roof covering and its distance from other structures is 3 m horizontally. D When the chimney passes through a slope with an angle of 30º or steeper, the safe distance shall be regarded as having been satisfied when the flue s horizontal distance from any other structures is 3 m and when it has a height of m. E When determining the length of the chimney, the safe distance to the supply air intakes and ventilation windows should also be taken into account, ensuring that the chimney s safe distance is not less than 8 m, or when the height difference is 3 m, below 5 m. 33
