1 Education Operations Manager Job Description Contract: Reports to: Maternity Leave Contract (6 months) Education Campaign Director Salary: 30,000-35,000 pro rata for the maternity cover contract Location: Any BITC office Background Business in the Community (BITC) stands for responsible business. We are a business-led charity with a growing membership of 850 companies, from large multinational household names to small local businesses and public sector organisations. We advise, support and challenge our members to create a sustainable future for people and the planet and to improve business performance. Our members work with us to define what responsibility looks like in the workplace, marketplace, community and the environment - and we share what we learn about driving performance through responsible business practice. The National Education Campaign sits within the Community Impact Team and aims to help companies make a lasting contribution to the education system in the UK through showcasing best practice, supporting practical delivery and influencing government and other key stakeholders on the importance of this agenda to social and economic cohesion across the UK. Our practical focus is on the successful national scaling up of our flagship education programme, Business Class. Campaign vision: To raise aspirations and attainment for 75,000 pupils nationwide through sustained and strategic business support for them and their schools. Impact aim: To lead a national effort to establish Business Class partnerships with 500 secondary schools serving the most deprived communities nationwide by The Job Purpose The successful candidate will be responsible for providing wide-ranging practical support for the national scaling up of Business Class across the UK. Business Class is an innovative model of collaborative school engagement, anticipating support across key strategic areas e.g. governance, leadership and operations as well as interventions to give children and young people new opportunities, richer futures and a sense of possibility. It targets secondary schools in challenging circumstances serving the most deprived communities in the UK. Head Teachers drive the agenda, working together with businesses in localised clusters to accelerate improvements and ensure that the lives of young people are transformed through their education. Independent evaluation by Cass Business School shows that Business Class is making a real impact on pupil achievement and enabling a range of other strategic improvements in school leadership and management.
2 The model empowers school leaders to innovate and enriches provision for the pastoral needs of their pupils, providing a wide range of extra-curricular activities, and rooting each school in its broader community. The resonance of this model with low performing schools is reflected in the fact that Business in the Community has more than trebled the numbers choosing to engage in the programme since the election. Its resonance with the Business community is reflected in significant corporate support to fund the national up-scaling of the model since the election. Over 220 partnerships are now active or in development in 27 clusters across the UK with more clusters in development. Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities: Operational responsibilities Train and support regional colleagues involved in delivering Business Class activities to ensure a consistent and high-quality approach for companies and schools involved in all UK areas. Manage and deliver projects through to completion. This will include IT-related projects involving Salesforce, the website and webinar facilitating. Develop, implement and evaluate operational delivery plans key to the successful delivery of Business Class. Drive the monitoring and evaluation of the programme nationally to produce relevant quarterly reports key stakeholders including the National Champions (our major corporate funders for Business Class) the BITC Board and the Education Leadership Team. Provide regular communications through web updates and telecoms to regional colleagues and partners to support the successful delivery of the programme and galvanise engagement. To ensure the successful development and ongoing delivery of the online platform to deliver Business Class, including developing webinars. Collate, develop and disseminate best practice advice and guidelines to appropriate stakeholders to ensure the development of key education programmes. Assist (where appropriate) in the delivery of business engagement community programmes. Financial management with a focus on the Business Class National Champion contributions. Analytical responsibilities Record, analyse, evaluate and synthesise data on which to base the development of operational templates and with which to inform the campaigning. Analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to formulate a creative approach to problem solving. Differentiate between types of information, i.e. facts, views, opinions and disseminate the information accordingly both internally and externally. Knowledge of and commitment to business engagement in Education Develop and maintain understanding and experience of business engagement in schools and the distinguishing features of Business Class within this context. Develop and maintain understanding of Education policy and its implications for business engagement in Schools in general and Business Class in particular. Coordination and organisation Manage conflicting demands, meet deadlines and adjust priorities to deliver projects successfully. Undertake administrative tasks, in order to use and maintain office systems. Maintain and develop the internet and intranet sites. Teamwork Work collaboratively with immediate team members and across organisational teams. Communicate effectively to internal and external colleagues to ensure the effective functioning of all teams. Inspire and engage BITC s Business Connector network to further understand the Business Class programme.

The post holder may be required to carry out other duties that are reasonably to be considered as within the scope and purpose of the job and the aptitudes of the job holder. This rises on a sliding scale to a maximum of 30 days after 10 years service. Employees can also "buy" more holiday entitlement or "sell" days unused. Pensions We operate a Group Personal Pension scheme, which employees can join after three months' service. Business in the Community will contribute up to 5% of salary providing the individual contributes a minimum of 2.5%. Season ticket Loan We offer interest-free loans for annual Season Ticket Travel to all staff. Childcare vouchers Business in the Community participates in the HMRC recognised Childcare Voucher salary sacrifice
6 scheme. Our provider is Edenred. Cycle to work scheme We also participate in the HMRC Cycle loan scheme. Employee Volunteering Employees are encouraged to volunteer in their local communities. You will have the opportunity to take part in volunteering activities with your team whilst working in Business in the Community and we will also allow you two days additional paid leave to volunteer in work time. Life assurance Payment of four times the annual salary will be paid to the estate of any individual in the event of death while they are employed at Business in the Community.
