2 DRY ICE EDUCATION: WHAT IS DRY ICE CLEANING? Dry ice cleaning or dry ice blasting as it is commonly known, is a cost-effective alternative for industries to maintain production quality and efficiency through an environmentally, employee, and equipment friendly cleaning method. Dry ice cleaning can take the place of most sand blasting, plastic bead blasting, water blasting, or soda blasting applications, but instead of using hard abrasive media to grind on a surface, dry ice blasting uses compressed air to accelerate frozen CO2 pellets to a high velocity to remove debris off from and clean a surface. Dry ice cleaning has many desirable benefits over other blasting media applications such as: * it is a non-abrasive, nonflammable and nonconductive cleaning method * it can be used to remove production residue, release agents, contaminants, paints, oils, and biofilms * it is environmentally responsible and contains no secondary contaminants such as solvents or grit media * it can be used for many types of cleaning from gentle cleaning of paper and cardboard to aggressive blasting of metal surfaces * it allows for many items to be cleaned in place without the need for disassembly * it can be used without damaging electrical or mechanical parts or creating fire hazards * it can be used for many general cleaning applications

3 DRY ICE ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS: DRY ICE BLASTING IS A CLEAN AND SAFE ALTERNATIVE. Whether you need a dry clean, are trying to reduce the amount of water or chemicals used or are trying to enhance sanitation or crosscontamination prevention programs, cleaning with dry ice provides the environmentally sustainable answer. Dry ice has been approved by the EPA, FDA and USDA as an acceptable material to be used in cleaning methods and dry ice blasting does not release harmful gases into the atmosphere.
