3 NHS Support: Maintenance NHS Grant fixed 1,000 award Non-means tested award made irrespective of family/household income level NHS Bursary up to 4,491 on the basis of a 45 week academic year ( 3,439 if living at home) Means tested family/household income taken into account Online calculator to see how much you ll be eligible for Paid monthly into your bank account, maximum grant and bursary = approx. 450 p/month Living Support Non-Repayable
4 NHS Support: Additional funding Additional financial support*: Parents Learning Allowance - means tested, up to 1,204p/ annum Dependents Allowance means tested, up to 2,448, subsequent child 549 Childcare Grant - means tested, maximum award of per week for one child or per week for two or more children Travel claims and placement accommodation (based on individual circumstances) may also be reimbursed *Not guaranteed BU will also provide your uniforms during your placements Living Support Non-Repayable
5 NHS Support: How to apply Apply online via the Bursary Online Support System (BOSS) Once you have an offer from any university you can apply Student Bursaries office assign a student reference Your chosen university will confirm your acceptance of an offer and enrolment on the course Living Support

7 Maintenance Loans Student Maintenance Loan for 2016/17 is: 2,324 if living away from parental home 1,744 if living in parental home It is non-means tested so family/household income won t be taken into account Loans are paid termly to help with day to day costs typically accommodation, travel, domestic bills etc. They have to be repaid Students who have previously had loan and fee support from Student Finance England will need to check their eligibility for finance support at Postgraduate diploma level. Living Repayable
8 How to apply Apply through Student Finance England - deadline usually around end of May. Apply early to avoid delays in payment, you can update the university information at a later date. You do not need to have a guaranteed place to apply for support. You will only need to provide National Insurance numbers and Passport numbers for income assessments, there is often no need to send further documents. Applying online at:
9 Repayment Loan repayments will start only when you have finished your studies and earning 21,000 or over. They are calculated at 9% of the income over 21,000 You will commence repayment in the April following graduation or leaving the course. Repayments are taken directly from your wages using the NI number Any outstanding loans will be written off after 30 years For example: if you are earning 25,000, you will pay back 7.50 a week ( 30 a month or 360 a year) Repayment
10 Interest Rates Student Loans accrue interest from the moment you take them out, but the amount you repay remains the same 9% of your income over 21,000. During study until entering repayment Earnings: Below 21,000 Earnings between: 21,000-41,000 Earnings: Above 41,000 Interest rate: Retail Price Index (RPI) +3% Interest rate: Set at RPI Only RPI plus some amount between 0% and 3% Interest rate: Retail Price Index (RPI) +3% Repayment
