The course modules and their content are very well balanced and helped me equip myself with the right analytical and intellectual tools. It helped me understand the finer aspects of management in today s complex global environment and leverage my past experience and the knowledge to rise in my career going ahead. Kaushik Gupta, Head of Business Development Germany, Mahindra Satyam Our Executive MBA is a 2-year, part-time programme encompassing two one-week residential sessions in the UK, seven core courses taught over twelve 3-day sessions (Thursday to Saturday) in Germany, and five 3-day elective courses (Thursday to Saturday) taught in Germany and the UK. Students can augment the core and elective course offerings with an optional 6-day International Study Experience; an opportunity to immerse yourself in an overseas business environment. The programme commences in late January of the first year with a one-week residential induction session in Durham designed to introduce you to Durham University Business School, EBS Business School and to your fellow participants. Core module teaching also starts at this time, and the week concludes with outdoor, teambased development activities held in the English Lake District. The latest academic thinking and the combination of UK-specific and continental European management know-how provide students with solid theoretical and practical instruction. Through the choice of five elective modules in the second year you design an individual course of study to enhance your knowledge and skills in the areas that interest you most. You will build communication and team-working awareness and skills during an Outdoor Development Experience held in the English countryside as a part of the first-year residential session. You can participate in the Boardroom Activity elective, featuring executives from industry and commerce, to gain exposure to top-level decision-making challenges. Through interactions with Durham MBA participants and the optional International Study Experience in China or other international locations, you experience management in a wide range of international contexts. It was very interesting to experience how students from a totally different cultural background see business topics and entrepreneurship. It is an independent piece of research regarded as an exercise in the analysis, interpretation and presentation of information, observations and ideas. It involves the systematic study of a problem using an appropriate theoretical framework and is a very rewarding part of the MBA learning experience. Additional Programme Features Coaching@EBS For many years EBS has offered an individual coaching programme to support students personal development. If you feel your personal development might profit from coaching, you have the opportunity to work together with our certified coaches experienced industry professionals specially trained in coaching who offer you support and guidance. Coaching enhances your problem-solving capabilities and learning capacity. Occasional Events A variety of events are organised throughout the programme. Guest speakers address EMBA students from time to time on topics related to core and elective courses and on broader business and social issues. Through collaboration with Durham Executive MBA participants, the Global MBA programme and the optional week-long International Study Experience, you will experience management in a wide range of contexts. Induction Session and Outdoor Development Exercise The programme commences in January each year with a 6-day residential induction and instruction session in Durham to introduce you to Durham University Business School, EBS Business School and to your fellow participants. Core module teaching starts during this time. Designed to enable you to develop greater selfawareness and enhance your interpersonal skills, the induction session is structured such that you will work in small groups, interact with fellow students, and benefit from the richness of the diverse experience. A popular and valuable part of the induction session is the residential training and development experience which takes place in the beautiful English countryside. This is an opportunity for you to get to know your peers in an informal and fun setting while at the same time developing your teambuilding and communication skills. The induction session provides you with an ideal way to transition into your MBA programme and a valuable opportunity to build relationships with students and staff. International Study Experience In the second year you may take part in an intensive International Study Experience with other Executive MBA students from Durham University Business School. Destinations vary depending on global business and economic interest, and in the past have included South Africa, Sri Lanka, China among other international locations. With company visits, lectures and cultural events, it is a chance to immerse yourself in an overseas business environment. Boardroom Activity Elective Learn from the unique Boardroom Activity and meet with Durham MBA students in the second year. The Boardroom Activity elective integrates learning from the core modules into a live boardroom situation replicating the tensions of a real leadership challenge to develop the life skills required in a business environment. In small teams you simulate the behaviour of the executive team of a real-world organisation. The activity culminates in a role-play of a boardroom meeting, where company executives chair the session and provide guidance, direction and feedback.

Alexander Göttling, Head of Learning & Development, Horváth & Partners Admissions Requirements To be considered for admission to the Executive MBA programme, we will normally expect you to meet the following requirements*: Hold a degree equivalent to a Bachelor s or higher, or equivalent professional qualification Have a minimum of three, preferably five, years relevant management-related work experience following graduation Demonstrate command of spoken and written English, typically gained from prior studies / work experience in a native Englishspeaking country, from a professional work environment in which English is the primary working language, or other similar means Demonstrate an above-average level of motivation and ability to balance the demanding workload with your professional responsibilities and contribute actively to the programme Provide two references in English from people who consider you to be exceptionally talented The lack of formal qualifications is not necessarily a barrier to admission.
