2 You must have the opportunity to use your coaching and mentoring skills at work as the course requires you to carry out 36 hours of coaching and mentoring practice. Coaching and Mentoring Certificate Level 3 The Certificate is ideal for people seeking to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence to coach and mentor people as part of their normal working role. Learners will: Understand how coaching works, including the different coaching models and techniques to support these Practice coaching skills Analyse, assess and plan to improve own coaching skills. Awarding body: ILM There are three mandatory units which comprise a number of assignments, reflective accounts and require you to undertake 36 hours of coaching in the work place. You will also be observed by your tutor carrying out coaching practice. You will need to attend theory sessions monthly and undertake 36 hours of work place coaching. A minimum of 80% attendance is required for this programme. On average the qualification usually takes 12 months to complete. The qualification is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management ILM. ILM Level 3 Certificate and Diploma in Leadership and Management and ILM Level 5 Certificate or Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring.

3 Introduction to Coaching and Mentoring at Work This session is an opportunity to meet the tutor of the course and get some advice and guidance on the content and commitment required to successfully complete the qualification. This qualification is ideal for people wanting to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence to coach and mentor people as part of their normal working role. You must have the opportunity to use your coaching and mentoring skills at work as the course requires you to carry out 36 hours of coaching and mentoring practice. Awarding body: ILM There are three mandatory units which comprise a number of assignments, reflective accounts and require you to undertake 36 hours of coaching in the work place. 4 Introduction to Hospitality To join this course you must want to work in the hospitality and catering industry. You must be prepared to attend 1 taught session and 1 day s work experience in a café per week. You are expected to be able to work independently and have a basic understanding of English and maths. Introduction to Hospitality Customer service in the hospitality industry Food safety in catering Using kitchen equipment Basic knife skills Food service Serving food and drink Basic food preparation Employability skills Awarding body: City and Guilds will be ongoing through: observations, professional discussions, demonstrations, work products, presentations, work experience and a portfolio of evidence. 34 weeks. You will be expected to attend every week. If you cannot attend you will be set work to ensure you meet your learning outcomes. A minimum of 80% attendance is required. These sessions will take place at the Howdon Community Centre Café where you will serve members of the general public. You will be required to wear black trousers or skirt, black t-shirt and sensible closed in shoes. As part of the course you will be given the opportunity to have a work placement with an external catering organisation. This will be arranged by your tutor. You may want to progress onto an apprenticeship in Hospitality and Catering.

You will attend taught sessions and learn the theory relating to the practical elements of cleaning, health and safety, and the use of chemicals. Maintain personal hygiene standards when cleaning Do your job in a customer friendly way Work individually and following reporting procedures in a cleaning environment Reduce risks to health and safety in the workplace Clean surfaces using correct methods Clean and maintain soft floors and furnishings Awarding body: City and Guilds You will be required to have an initial assessment prior to the start of the course. will be ongoing through: observations, professional discussions, demonstrations, presentations, work experience, and a portfolio of evidence. 36 weeks. You will be expected to attend every week. If you cannot attend you will be set work to ensure you meet your learning outcomes. A minimum of 80% attendance is required. The taught sessions will take place at Norham Community Wing. After term one, you will be allocated a work placement. You will be expected to attend up to fifteen hours. You will be required to wear black trousers or skirt, black t-shirt and safety shoes (these will be provided). Please give your shoe size to your tutor on induction to the course. If you require a transport pass whilst you are on placement, please speak to your tutor. Introduction to Practical Cleaning Skills You may want to progress onto the level 2 in Cleaning Apprenticeship.

These qualifications are for learners seeking to gain an understanding of the retail industry and the application of customer service in it alongside gaining essential employability knowledge and skills. Lift and handle safely Stock taking Stock sorting for the retail environment Recognise the security risks Customer service Display merchandise Dress visual merchandise display to attract customers Make props and decorate fixtures and panels for visual merchandising displays Awarding body: City and Guilds You will be required to have an initial assessment prior to the start of the course. will be ongoing through, observations, professional discussions, demonstrations, presentations, work experience, and a portfolio of evidence. 36 weeks. You will be expected to attend every week. If you cannot attend you will be set work to ensure you meet your learning outcomes. A minimum of 80% attendance is required. 7 Introduction to Work and Life Skills There are no entry requirements to attend the Information, Advice and Guidance session. This information, advice and guidance session will provide you with the information required to progress on to the Work and Life Skills Certificate. You will find out about the requirements of the programme and what the qualification involves. Awarding body: CACHE You will have an informal discussion with one of the tutors. One off session. Not applicable. You could progress onto the Work and Life Skills Certificate.

8 Return to Work Taster There are no entry requirements to attend the taster session. The taster session will provide you with the information required to progress on to the Return to Work Level 1 Certificate. You will find out about the requirements of the programme and what the qualification involves. Awarding body: CACHE You will have an informal discussion with one of the tutors. One off session. Not applicable. You could progress onto the Return to Work Level 1 Certificate.

9 There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. You should have attended the taster session. Return to Work Skills Certificate Level 1 During the course you will complete units such as preparing for your next steps, career guidance, interviews skills and many more. The aim of this course is to build your confidence in returning to work with the necessary skills. Awarding body: CACHE You will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include tasks set by CACHE such as designing charts or leaflets, coursework or methods such as oral questioning to create a portfolio of evidence. 15 weeks Each session will be 2 hours long. 80% minimum attendance is required. You will need to bring with you a file and a pack of 10 dividers to the first session. You could talk to your tutor about your next steps, including vocational training or help with employability skills.

10 There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. You should have attended one of the IAG sessions. Work and Life Skills Certificate Level 1 These qualifications will develop personal knowledge and life skills. Units cover life skills including managing own money, dealing with challenges, interview skills and personal and social relationships. Awarding body: CACHE You will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include tasks set by CACHE such as designing charts or leaflets, coursework or methods such as oral questioning to create a portfolio of evidence. 12 weeks Each session will be 2 hours long. 80% minimum attendance is required. You will need to bring with you a file and a pack of 10 dividers to the first session. You could talk to your tutor about your next steps, including vocational training or help with employability skills.
