1 Using Blank Templates in Design and Print Online Adding and Editing Text and Images in Design and Print Online Using Pre-Designed Templates in Design and Print Online 1 of 15
2 Blank Templates 1. On the Design and Print Online home page click on the Click to start Design & Print Online option as shown If you get a Get Started registration form appear you will need to fill this in before you will be able to continue. 2. The next page allows you to select a Product by either Category or by Typing in the Product Code. For this we will select the Labels for Letters and Envelopes option. Double click on this option 3. You will need the product code for the labels you want to use. For this example we will use J8160. As you type the product code into the Quick Search box you will see the selection change as it fillers down and will eventually leave the product code you want to use. Click on the labels so they are highlighted blue and click Next in the top right hand corner. 2 of 15
3 4. You now have a choice of different designs that you can choose from. For this example we will select the blank landscape template. Click on the temple so it is highlighted in blue and click Next in the top right hand corner. 5. You will now be in the Design Tool. Click on the Add Text Box button in the menu on the left hand side to bring up a text box and you can now type in your text. You can select if you would like the whole page with the same information or whether each label has different Information by selecting the Edit All or Edit One option on the right hand menu. Please note the system will always default to the Edit All option 6. Once you have finished your design click on the Preview & Print button in the top right hand corner to go through to the preview page. 3 of 15
4 7. If you are happy with your design you can now print it by selecting the Print Button in the top right hand corner. If you wish to make amendments before printing then select the Back button which is also in the top right hand corner. After you have made the amendments follow step 6 again to get back to this page and continue with the printing steps below. 8. Once you have selected Print the PDF file will now be created. 9. When this has been created click OPEN. The PDF will now open up and you can now print your project onto your Avery UK product. 4 of 15
5 Adding & Editing Text & Images 1. To add text to your design click on the Add Text Box button in the menu on the left hand side to bring up a text box and you can now type in your text. Once you have written your text in the text box you will then be able to edit the text so you can change the font, size or colour of the text. To do this you need to highlight the text by clicking in the text box and then holding down the left mouse button whilst moving the mouse over the text, This will then highlight the text in black as shown. 6 of 15
7 7. You will now be able to edit your text. Under the Text section you can choose to edit the Font, Size, Colour or Placement of the text. You can also have you text in Bold, Itallic or Underlined For instructions on how to move or Stretch the text box please see Step To add a picture to your design You need to select the Images Tab from the left hand menu. You will then have the option to Either select an image from the Avery Gallery or from your Computer. For this Example we Will Select an image from the Avery Gallery. 8. You will now get a choice of images that you can use. Once you have chosen your image click on it so it Highlights Blue and then click on Select 7 of 15
8 9. The image will then load onto the Template. 10. Once the image has loaded you can stretch this out to either fit the label or to cover part of it. To do this just left click on the round white circles on the edge of the picture frame and keep your finger depressed on the mouse button as you drag you mouse to change the size of the image. 11. If you wish to rotate the The picture click on the Picture so the dotted frame Appears around the image. At the top of the picture there Will be a Green Circle. Left Click on this circle and you will See the curser change into a Circle with arrows. Now drag Your mouse and you will see The picture rotate round. 8 of 15
9 12. If you want the image behind the text click on the Arrange, Rotate, Align section. From here you can move the image to the back of the template. If the image is not covering the whole label you can center the image. You can Send the image to the back if you are adding text so that the text shows on the image by clicking on Send Backward. 13. If you wish to have the picture as a background for your design you will need to go back to the Images tab and select the Set as Background button. 14. Once it has been set as the Background you can change The transparency of the image by reducing the percentage on the Transparency Bar. If you no longer wish to have the image set as your background you can just select the Unlock Background button. 9 of 15
10 15. If you wish you can move the text or picture box so that it fits better on your design. For this example we will move the text box. Left click on the border of the text box so the dotted lines appear. Your cursor will turn into a Cross shape when you place it on any of the dotted lines. Once it does this you need to left click and then you can drag the box to a position you chose. 16. Once you are happy with your design click on the Preview & Print button in the top right hand corner. 17. If you are happy with your design you can now print it by selecting the Print Button in the top right hand corner. If you wish to make amendments before printing then select the Back button which is also in the top right hand corner. After you have made the amendments follow step 16 again to get back to this page and continue with the printing steps below. 10 of 15
11 18. The PDF file will now be created. 19. When this has been created click Open. You are now ready to print your design on your chosen Avery UK product. 11 of 15
12 Pre-Designed Templates 1. 13 4. You now have a choice of different designs that you can choose from. For this example we will select a pre-designed landscape template. Click on the temple so it is highlighted in blue and click Next in the top right hand corner. 5. You now have 3 options. i) If you click on the Edit on Design Screen you can customise your design immediately. Skip to step 8. ii) iii) If you click on the Easy Edit Wizard, this will guide you step by step through the Customisation of your labels, Or by clicking Cancel it will take you into the design screen. Go to step 8. For this example we will use the Easy edit wizard. 6. Firstly the wizard will ask you To complete your text in the Text Boxes. Once you have done this Click Next. 13 of 15
14 7. Next the Wizard will ask you if you want to edit Background to Do this you will need to either select one from the Avery Gallery or from Your Computer Then you can edit the Picture. Again you can either keep the existing picture or select another one by either picking one from the Avery Gallery or by selecting one from Your Computer. Once you are finished click Done in the top right hand corner. Please proceed to step If you did not use the Easy Edit Wizard you will now be in the Design Tool. Click on the Text on the label You will now be able to type the information that you wish to use. Click on the Picture on the label if you wish to change this. You can either pick one from the Avery Gallery or by selecting one from Your Computer. You can select if you would like the whole page with the same information or whether each label has different information by selecting the Edit All or Edit One option in the top right hand corner 9. Once you have finished click Preview & Print in the top right hand corner. 14 of 15
15 10. If you are happy with your finished design you are now ready to print. To do this click on the Print Button in the top right hand corner 11. The PDF file will now be created. 12. When this has been created click Open. The PDF will now open up and you can now print your project onto your Avery UK product. 15 of 15
