2 Cincinnati USA Cultural Tourism Product Development Grant Program Guidelines Program Overview Cincinnati USA Cultural Tourism Product Development (CTPD) Grants, a new program of ArtsWave and the Regional Tourism Network, assists arts and heritage organizations in their efforts to develop new tourism products or expand existing products that are attractive to consumers from near and far. Purpose The Cultural Tourism Product Development (CTPD) Grant Program is designed to build assets that establish Greater Cincinnati as a cultural tourism destination and/or contribute to theme-based arts and heritage experiences that increase visitation to the region and its cultural attractions. Alignment with the Cultural Tourism Marketing & Engagement Initiative All products must work in synergy with the Cultural Tourism Marketing & Engagement Initiative cosponsored by the RTN and ArtsWave and help amplify the campaign s key messages and brand. Description of the identified target audiences, Knowledge Seekers, Experience Seekers, and Families, can be found here. Cross-organization partnerships are encouraged, in order to leverage multiple points of engagement with visitors and link existing assets in new ways that increase visitation, engagement and spending. Preference will be given to projects that advance one or more of these specific objectives: Celebrate the 2017 openings of new or restored cultural facilities Link to or enhance other Fall 2017 community events or existing assets in new or re-imagined ways Add to the inventory of cultural product that appeals to multi-cultural or culturally specific audiences Who May Apply To be eligible for the 2017 Cultural Tourism Product Development (CTPD) Grant Program, an organization must meet all the following requirements: Have 501(c)3 tax status Be based in the Cincinnati-Middletown, OH-KY-IN MSA, which includes the following counties: Brown, Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren Counties in Ohio; Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, and Pendleton Counties in Kentucky; and Dearborn, Ohio and Union Counties in Indiana 2 P a g e

3 Must have been in existence for at least five years, with evidence of successfully implementing similar projects Project Period: September through December CTPD Grants will be awarded for projects that occur between September and December Project planning may begin prior to this time period, with allowable expenses, but the public s opportunity to experience the cultural product developed through this grant must occur during the project period. Grant Amounts and Match Requirements Grants will range from $10,000 to $40,000 and require a cash match of at least 50% from sources other than ArtsWave grants. A total of $200,000 is anticipated to be available in this round of funding. Eligible Requests Eligible types of products to be considered for funding include: Creative, innovative, arts-centric products that are destination drivers those that stimulate the fundamental travel decision and that can drive visitation from tourists within a mile radius of Cincinnati USA and/or that will attract the tourists in our own backyard Products that are driver accelerants important and distinctive arts-centric additions to the overall Cincinnati USA experience that can help sway a travel decision in favor of Cincinnati USA Products that enhance existing arts and cultural assets to ensure they stay fresh and responsive to changing consumer demands Eligible expenses include: artist and consultant fees; planning costs; production expenses; venue and facility costs; supplies and equipment; and marketing. Ineligible expenses include: re-granting, fundraising events, advocacy on behalf of political causes or candidates, and projects that advance or inhibit a particular religious ideology. Application Instructions All application materials must be submitted via the online grantmaking system. We strongly recommend that you begin your online application well before the due date to familiarize yourself with the online grantmaking system and to address any technical concerns. While completing your application, remember these tips: Be brief, clear and direct, focusing on what is most important. 3 P a g e

4 We recommend that you prepare your responses offline in a word processing program and then copy and paste them into the appropriate sections of the online application. Limit the use of bullets and other formatting in text fields. Add mail@grantapplication.com to your safe senders list to ensure that you receive all communications from the online grantmaking system. The application for the 2017 Cincinnati USA Cultural Tourism Product Development Grant Program can be accessed using the following link: All application materials must be submitted via the online grantmaking system before 7:00 pm EST on the deadline date. Late applications will not be accepted. Review Process Applications will be reviewed on the following criteria: Organization s track record and experience implementing similar projects Feasibility of project including artists, partners and marketing plan Project timeline and dates Project budget and proposed use of grant dollars Alignment with one or more of the 2017 CTPD Grant Program objectives and overall alignment with the ArtsWave/RTN Cultural Tourism Marketing & Engagement Initiative Potential of the proposed cultural product to increase visitation as either a destination driver, driver accelerant, or enhance existing arts and cultural assets Requirements of Grant Recipients Grant recipients must agree to share project metrics with ArtsWave as part of efforts to aggregate sector activity data that shows how the arts put Cincinnati on the map, one of the five focus areas of the Blueprint for Collective Action in the Arts. Grant recipients must also be willing to participate in the Arts Sector Shared Patron Data project that is building capacity for cross-channel marketing and definition of our arts consumer marketplace. Grant recipients will be asked to participate in collaborative marketing efforts throughout the project period and to recognize ArtsWave and the Regional Tourism Network as event sponsors.
