1 The College at Brockport: Brand Standards Guide 1 The purpose of this guide is to establish and explain the guidelines and standards for usage of the College logo, colors and typefaces; and to present a basic system for stationery with departmental and other sub-textual identifiers taken into consideration. 2 The College at Brockport: Brand Standards Guide 2 Logo: basic attributes The logo presents itself in only two ways: centered and flush left. Care should be taken to ALWAYS use the established logo art files which can be obtained from the Office of Design & Production Department. NEVER attempt to recreate the logo neither the shield nor the typography. Centered Flush Left A word about file protocols: ALWAYS: insert, place, or import the logo file into a document. NEVER: open+copy (or cut+paste) the logo file.

Within the centered and the flush left presentations the logo can be either color (positive or reversed), black, or reversed white. (There is a white holding line around the shield in all logos.) For black and white printing (or other single color applications) always use the black and white versions (eps files preferred) of the marks.

The logo should NOT be printed over a photograph,* or overlap a graphic, or have an object, type, or photo infringe on the logo space (see page 6). The shield CANNOT be used alone. * There may be certain circumstances or publications where this might be permitted. Always check with MC and/or D&P first.
6 The College at Brockport: Brand Standards Guide 6 Determining the space around the logo When using the logo, it should occupy its own space. This space is determined by the height of the B in the name and using that measurement to determine the perimeter (top, bottom, left, right) of the space around the logo. Other objects (type, graphic elements, photos, etc.) should not invade this space. The exception to this is when there are school, departmental or other subtext descriptors connected to the logo (see page 10).
7 The College at Brockport: Brand Standards Guide 7 Size considerations A special modification has been made to the Shield in the logo for use when reproducing the logo in small sizes. When the shield width will be 5/8" or less, the logo file denoted with sm in the file name should be used. This small file should NEVER be used larger than 100 percent or with a shield width of more than 5/8". Conversely, the normal logo should never be used with a shield width less than 3/4". For illustration purposes, here are examples of some logo naming abbreviations ( C stands for full color and K stands for black only). But in most cases you won t need to worry about interpreting them because Design & Production will provide the correct shield and word mark in the size and file format best suited for your individual application. Homemade versions of any of these marks are not acceptable. Since a true gold is not always possible, particularly on printed materials, the correct yellow alternate for most common uses is PMS 123. If these fonts are unavailable, substitute Times Roman in place of Garamond and Arial/Helvetica in place of Univers. Once the logo is in the correct position and at the correct size, a type box is used for the variable information. Follow the typographic instruction for each line. Often, though, there may be two or even three phone numbers (office, home, cell).
