8 HOW IS THE PLAN ACTIVATED? Plan activated when AA tsunami WARNING is received and/or County activates the siren warning system City may activate plan when: A tsunami WATCH is received. A strong earthquake is felt lasting longer than 15 seconds. A strong earthquake is felt and ocean waters recede beyond the end of the pier. 8
9 WHAT IS THE PLAN? IF SUFFICIENT WARNING, EVACUATE ALL RESIDENTS TO AN AREA OF SAFE REFUGE AT THE FIVE CITIES CENTER (WALMART) TEMPORARY SHELTER MINIMAL SUPPORT RE-ENTRY ENTRY TO RELOCATION TO DESIGNATED SHELTER 9

13 WATCH COMMANDER ACTIONS Requests city sirens sounded and Emergency Alert System activated Notifies police, fire, and public works Activates EOC Recalls personnel as necessary/directed Notifies CHP; representative to command post/eoc Notifies Cal Fire Emergency Command Center Requests Red Cross Disaster Action Team Requests closure of railroad Provides Special Needs Lists to emergency 13 responders
14 CAL FIRE DISPATCH ACTIONS Assigns chief officer to the City EOC and a field incident commander and a safety officer to the incident command post. Assigns command and tactical channel to field fire personnel. Assigns ssg s ste site manager age and information ato officer to the designated Area of Safe Refuge. Assigns g a two-person safety lookout team to Boosinger Park ( Boosinger Lookout ) and a communications channel specifically for this purpose. 14
15 OTHER AREAS OF SAFE REFUGE Primary site is the Walmart Center (supported by Red Cross) Temporary alternate sites are any shopping center parking lots and the South County Center (no support) Arroyo Grande and Nipomo HS may also be used for RV temporary parking (no support) 15
