The course comprises of 3 components that are terminally examined at the end of Year 11. These are as follows: Component 1: Changing physical and human landscapes Landscapes and Physical Processes Rural-urban Links Tectonic Landscapes and Hazards Coastal Hazards and their Management Component 2: Environmental and developmental issues Weather, Climate and Ecosystems Development and Resource Issues Social Development Issues Environmental Challenges Component 3: Applied field work 2 pieces of fieldwork must be conducted in contrasting environments. 4 Please note that up to date publications related to the specification that students will study are currently unavailable as they have not yet been published. Year 10 and 11 WJEC Specification GCSE Year 10 and 11 students at The Barlow study the existing WJEC Geography Specification A. The course comprises of 2 units that are terminally examined at the end of Year 11 and two pieces of Controlled Assessment. Units are as follows: Paper 1 Water Climate change Living in an active Zone Changing Populations Globalisation Development Paper 2 This is an options paper and is subject to change each year depending on the topics of the Controlled Assessments. In the past students have studied the following on this paper: Tourism Retail and Urban Change Changing Coast Lines Weather and Climate Controlled Assessments: Students will complete two pieces of Controlled Assessment.
