1 SEATTLE PACIFIC UNIVERSITY JOB DESCRIPTION REVISED: SEPTEMBER 14, 12 JOB TITLE: Psychology and Scholarly Communications Librarian POSITION #: DEPARTMENT: Library REPORTS TO: University Librarian SUPERVISES: FLSA STATUS: Exempt: Nonexempt: GENERAL SUMMARY: This position provides liaison librarian support to the School of Psychology, Family, and Community, including collection development, reference, and instructional and research services. This position is also responsible for leading development of the library s scholarly communication program, addressing such issues as dissemination models, intellectual property rights, and technological infrastructure. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: (Responsibilities, Accountabilities, and Competencies; May not include all duties of this job) JOB DUTIES 1. Responsible for collection development in support of Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Organizational Psychology, and Marriage and Family Therapy. This involves collaboration with faculty to provide access to resources that support the curricula and develop a core collection. 2. Responsible for teaching information literacy to students and faculty in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Organizational Psychology, and Marriage and Family Therapy. This involves collaboration with faculty to integrate information literacy into curricula in appropriate places. 3. Responsible for providing assistance to faculty and students as they conduct research. This involves specialized help to faculty and students in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Organizational Psychology, and Marriage and Family Therapy as well as providing general reference services for all library patrons, including at the reference desk. 4. In collaboration with other librarians and the Director of the Center for Scholarship and Faculty Development, lead the development, promotion, and assessment of the library s scholarly communications program. 5. Maintains currency in the field of academic librarianship, particularly as it relates to library content in assigned areas. 6. Participate as faculty in the academic and governance efforts of Seattle Pacific University and the library. This includes leadership roles within the library, and leadership roles within the university, such as faculty committees. 7. Software And Equipment Used: Able to effectively use SPU supplied office equipment and software applications, as well as other software necessary to fulfill duties of this position. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience) 1. Education: An undergraduate degree in psychology or another social science; an additional graduate degree. 2.
