There are three 7s so 7 is the mode. b) The range is the largest value take away the smallest value = 8 so the range is 8. c) The mean is the meanest of all as it is the most work. 5 Question 14 a) i) Angles on a straight line make 180⁰, so x = 180⁰ 65⁰ = 115⁰ ii) Angles on a straight line add up to 180⁰ b) Triangle ABC is an isosceles triangle (because AB = AC) so the angle at B will also be 65⁰. Angles in a triangle always add up to 180⁰. y = 180⁰ (65⁰ + 65⁰) = 180⁰ - 130⁰= 50⁰ ii) Triangle ABC is an isosceles triangle (because AB = AC) so the angle at B will be the same as the internal angle at C. (actually this should be 6.25 miles) c)we can t use the graph to convert 100 miles as our graph doesn t extend that far. However we know 10 miles is equal to 16 kilometres so we can scale this up. 7 Question 19 a) It always helps with conversions to draw a small table. Put in the data we know. We have 400 so put that in the column. Then whatever we did to the 1 to get to 400 we do the same to Francs note 1 Note 1: = 400 so 2.30 x 400 = 920 francs b) This time put 46 in the francs column. Then whatever we did to 2.30 to get 46 we do the same to 1. Francs note 2 46 Note 2: = 20, so 1 x 20 = 20 Question 20 a) If you want to key it in all in one go then you will need to use brackets. 8.7 x 12.3 ( ) = b) rounding this to 1 significant figure gives 30 Question 21 a) subtract 5 from both sides m = 7 b) divide both sides by 3 n = 12 c) multiply both sides by 5 x = 50 d) first subtract 7 from both sides 4y = 6 divide both sides by 4 y = Page 7

We will need to substitute 3.5 into the left hand side of the equation, then compare our answer to 60. If it is smaller then try again with a bigger value.
