When Dorothy s house comes down on the new land, it (2) kills the Wicked Witch of the East. The Munchkins are very happy: now they are independent. But Dorothy wants to go back home. She asks the Good Witch of the North for advice. The Good Witch of the North gives Dorothy the silver magic shoes of the Wicked Witch of the East. She tells her to (3) go to the Emerald City and see the Wizard of Oz. The way to the Emerald City is a long road of (4) yellow bricks. On their way to the Emerald City, Dorothy and Toto (5) meet a scarecrow on a pole. The scarecrow (6) can talk but he wants a (7) brain to be intelligent. Dorothy helps him and they decide to go to Emerald City together. He wants to ask the Wizard of Oz for a brain. After some time, Dorothy, Toto and the Scarecrow meet a (8) tin woodman. He is calling for help because his body is full of (9) rust and he can t move. Dorothy puts some oil on him and the Tin Woodman is very happy. He decides to go to the Emerald City with Dorothy. He will ask the Wizard of Oz to give him a (10) heart because he hasn t got one. Then Dorothy and her friends come to a forest (11) and they meet a lion. The lion explains that he is a coward. He decides to go to the Emerald City with them. He will ask for some courage. In the Emerald City, the Great Wizard of Oz (12) is very mysterious. He will give the travellers what they want, but only when they kill the Wicked Witch of the West and bring him her broomstick. The Wicked Witch can t hurt Dorothy because she is wearing the silver magic shoes. When Dorothy throws a bucket of (13) water at the Wicked Witch, the Witch melts because she is made of fire. Finally the Good Witch of the South appears. She has wonderful news for Dorothy: she can go back home again. Dorothy must move her (14) shoes together three times and say take me home. So Dorothy says goodbye to all her friends and she is back in Kansas. She is so (15) happy to be back home. Page 74 activity 4 a. (The Good Witch of the North) b. The Scarecrow c. The Tin Woodman d.
