APO s objectives are to disclose the activity and the offer of outsourcing in Portugal, to represent the outsourcing sector next to the main economic agents, to promote best practices in outsourcing services, and to stimulate the development of competence centers in Portugal. Portugal currently offers a very strong, competitive set of factors that enable the Outsourcing players to provide top quality level ITC based Services on a nearshore perspective regarding the 4 key analysis dimensions Overall Country (Business) Environment, Skills (HR quality and availability), Infra-structures (availabilty and quality) and Costs (overall business costs-structure). Portugal has in fact been recognized in the past few years as one of EMEA s developed countries with most potential to provide our set of Services, fact demonstrated by the wide range of multinational companies already operating in Portugal both through the installation of transnational Shared Services Centres and the services provided by Portuguese Outsourcing players.

PRODUTECH Cluster consists of a partnership between technology suppliers, major industrial players from several sectors, sectorial entities, and Science and Technology (S&T) organizations. It currently comprises 86 associates, from which 59 companies (43 technology suppliers, 16 user companies from sectors such as metalworking, food, wood, etc.), 16 S&T organizations, and 11 other entities. By promoting cooperation between those organizations, it aims at developing turnkey integrated and innovative solutions for customer sectors, thus increasing the horizontal characteristics and potential of production technologies. PRODUTECH frequently organizes events (Open days) where partners visit relevant manufacturing companies in order to identify business opportunities. Located in the center of Portugal, in Tejo Region, Quinta da Alorna has diversified business based on the 2.800ha property. It compromises wine production, wine tourism and organic food production. In the last 8 years, a lot was done and renewed at Quinta da Alorna, from the vineyards, to the winery and also in the commercial approach to the market. Everything has been completely modernised in recent times and the latest technology is employed in the fields and in the winery to make the highest quality wines. The visitor can see one of Portugal s biggest single vineyards, the old winery in contrast to the new modern facilities. The global competition in the wine market, compromises us in order to produce wines with competitive prices, and our goal is always to produce good value wines, adapted to the market demand. At this moment, Quinta da Alorna, sells 50% of the produced wines to the international markets. We are a profitable company that is increasing sales in Portugal and abroad and that has just invested in 35ha of new vineyard, to allow us to continue increasing sales in the next years. Within the R&D activities, 2 main projects are highlighted, PSI - New Products and Services for the Manufacturing Industry and PTI - New Processes and Innovative Technologies for the Production Technologies Industry projects, with over 40 partners and a budget of 12.5 Million. The Cluster also plays a key role in European projects and initiatives, namely MANUFUTURE and EFFRA, pro-actively participating in technology foresight, roadmapping and intelligence activities.
