1 Left ventricle Systolic Function and Morphology View a list of abbreviations A Left ventricle systolic function and morphology (M-Mode short axis only) $15/mouse Measurements will include: IVSD (mm), IVESS (mm), PWT (mm), LVEDD (mm), LVESD (mm), EF (%), FS (%), LV-mass (mg). B Left ventricle systolic function and morphology using 2D and M-mode short/long axis view Measurements include: IVSD (mm), IVESS (mm), PWTED (mm), PWTES (mm), LVEDD (mm), LVESD (mm), EF (%) FS (%), LV-mass (mg), RWT, IMT, AOD, CSA, LVOT (mm), EDV (µl), ESV (µl), SV (µl), CO (ml/min), CO (ml/min/g), CI C Doppler flow imaging and analysis of systolic and diastolic function: Measurement will include: CSA (mm 2 ) VTI (mm), SV (µl), HR (b/min), CO (ml/min), CO (ml/min/g), CI, E (m/s), A(m/s), E/A ratio, DT (ms), IVRT (ms), IVCT (ms), ET (ms), MPI or TEI D Tissue Doppler imaging for cardiac systolic and diastolic function Measurement will include: E (m/s), A (m/s) E /A ratio, DT (ms) IVRT (ms) IVCT (ms) ET (ms) MPI or TEI, E/E E 2D speckle strain rate imaging Measurement will include: Circumferential strain, circumferential SR, radial strain, radial SR, longitudinal strain, longitudinal SR, radial strain, radial SR

2 Disease Models A Transverse Aortic Constriction Core surgeon will conduct a thoracotomy, place a ligating suture on the transverse aorta, administer Sustained-Release Buprenex as analgesia and start the Small Animal Surgical Record B Coronary Artery Ligation $100/mouse Core surgeon will conduct a thoracotomy, ligate the left anterior descending artery 1-2 mm from where it extends beyond the left auricle, administer Sustained-Release Buprenex as analgesia and start the Small Animal Surgical Record C Myocardial Ischemia /Reperfusion $120/mouse Core surgeon will conduct a thoracotomy, ligate the left anterior descending artery for30-60min,then reperfuse the heart, administer Sustained-Release Buprenex as analgesia and start the Small Animal Surgical Record D Pulmonary Artery Banding $100/mouse Core surgeon conduct a thoracotomy, place a ligation suture on the pulmonary artery trunk, administer Sustained-Release Buprenex as analgesia and start the Small Animal Surgical Record

3 E Osmotic Pump Implantation $30/mouse Core surgeon place Azlet mini-osmotic pump (pump and drug must be provided by PI), secure the surgical site with wound clips, administer buprenorphine and start the Small Animal Surgical Record and remove wound clips as directed by JHU s IACUC

4 F Closed chest aortic pressure LV pressure $25/mouse Hemodynamic Phenotyping Includes surgical cutdown, Millar catheter placement, and recording of aortic and LV pressures. Provide: systolic and diastolic BP and waveforms, LV systolic and diastolic pressure, derivatives, relaxation time constants. G LV Pressure-Volume Analysis $60/mouse Includes saline calibration, aortic flow measurement, PV catheter study including derived indexes of LV function (load-independent measurements). H LV Pressure-Volume study with Drug infusion Similar to LV PV Analysis, but with addition of additional recordings with varying drug infusions. $30 for initial two infusions, $10 for any additional conditions. I Chronic ECG telemetry recording Implantation of chronic ECG telemetry probe, and monitoring for up to 4 weeks J Chronic Blood pressure telemetry recording Implantation of chronic ECG telemetry probe, and monitoring for up to 4 weeks
