5 The purpose of IDAN... is to enhance the skill level of companies and employees in the sectors that comprise IDAN by: supporting and offering continuing education, reeducation, and master craftsman level study (EQF 5), participating in research and development related to industrial skill and education, and collaborating and interacting with government authorities concerning education issues in the sectors. 5

14 Career and student Counseling 5 career and student counselors. All counselors have a MA degree in counseling. Counseling at the workplace. Guides individuals with their Lifelong Learning in the trades after their formal education. Supervises recognition of vocational qualifications at upper secondary level. Work closely with individuals during the validation process of real competences. 14
15 Counseling at the workplace Counselor and a division manager visit companies Offer LLL courses Counseling for the entire staff Provide information and assist if needed e.g. apprenticeship contracts and Journeymen's exams 15
16 Validation - The certified trades Criteria for validation Individuals have to have a minimum of 5 years work experience and have reached the age of 25. The National curriculum is the base for the evaluation within the certified trades. Work based learning logbooks are the base for evaluation General subjects not validated (under revision). Undergo the same journeyman's examination as a fulltime students. 16
17 Validation of competences individuals have gone through the validation process Total of credits have been recgonised by the formal school system 24 different trades 748 individuals have returned to school (57%) 448 individuals have completed the national journeyman's examination In 2014 approx. 69% of the participants returned to school 17

19 Recognition of Professional Qualification within the certified trades (Regulated profession industry, crafts and trade) The Ministry of Education processes applications for recognition of vocational qualifications at upper secondary level for foreigners who wish to practise their profession in Iceland. Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 September 2005 on the recognition of Professional Qualifications. Nordic agreements on recognition of Professional Qualification's.( Law nr.93/1993) Laws and Directive on the recognition of Professional Qualifications (26/2010 and 585/2011) IDAN administrates the recognition process and assists applicants. IÐAN provides the Ministry of Education a formal opinion (dictum) of the application. Ministry of Education builds its decision on the applicants petition on IÐANs testimony. District commissioner in charge of administrative functions are responsible for certifying the recognition of the qualification in question. 21

22 European project - European Quality Assurance in Mobility Learning (EQAMOB) The aim of the project is to: A clear and effective definition of in-company learning mobility, focused on apprenticeships schemes, yet usable in other work based learning contexts ; Erasmus+ A set of tools and methods (guidelines, compendium, toolbox for labelling) allowing an overall and coherent approach for the buildup of learning mobility pathway, addressing all stakeholders, including hosting and sending companies (companies which train apprentices) ; Concrete applications of EQAVET and ECVET in this context. 24
