3 Increased need of security The growth in air traffi c is an enormous challenge at every stage in the air transport value chain. 8 PILOT PROJECTS As a member of the French aerospace industry association GIFAS, Thales is taking part in several European pilot projects to support efforts to tighten controls during Passenger and Cabin Baggage Screening (PCBS) and improve data communications between airport professionals. 9 Big analytics to anticipate border risks At an airport, border security agencies face two main challenges. Large numbers of people need to be processed quickly without too much inconvenience for passengers; and security services need to know as early as possible which passengers may need additional screening. Using the information provided by border control systems and airlines, a new Big analytics solution developed by Thales identifi es high-risk passengers in real time by detecting atypical behaviours or screening travellers according to criteria provided by border experts. If an alert is raised, border control personnel can act much more quickly to clear the individual or intervene if need be.
