1 Collecting Your Credentials For Your Career Portfolio Name: A Career Portfolio is an organized collection of evidence that shows your accomplishments both in and out of school. A Career Portfolio contains samples of your work that exhibit and reveal the quality and variety of your learning, your accomplishments, your skills, and your experiences. The purpose of your Career Portfolio is to support a resume when applying for employment. A Career Portfolio is meant to show evidence of a wide variety of your accomplishments during a job interview. It is a scrapbook of your skills and accomplishments. In addition to your credentials from home or school (see brainstorming sheet), you must include the following 10 items from your Career Studies Course into your Career Portfolio: Items From Class to include in your Career Portfolio Checklist Career Portfolio Title Page A Bit About Me High Five Questions Convince Me! What are your Transferrable Skills Employee Report Card Cover Letter Resume References Self-Assessment Quizzes, Concept Map and Reflection Impact Wheel Organization of your Career Portfolio Organize your Career Portfolio into each of the following four categories (or you may create your own categories) to help you organize your credentials. Use your Collect Your Credentials worksheet to brainstorm ideas for items to include as credentials in your Career Portfolio. After you brainstorm and record your credentials, your job is to find and organize originals, digital photographs, or photocopies of your credentials in a separate binder organized under the following sections: (you may create your own sections based upon your personal interests) A) Educational Accomplishments B) School Activities C) Work D) Community Participation Your Career Portfolio is Due:

2 A) Educational Accomplishments Collecting Your Credentials For Your Career Portfolio (Brainstorming Sheet) In this section, concentrate on what you have accomplished in your studies at school. your latest report card showing your grades, and your learning skills your up-to-date transcript (your academic record to date) any academic awards you have received, special skills (e.g., knowledge of software, knowledge of another language, musical ability) any other evidence unique to you and your education tests, projects, essays, or art work that you are proud of B) School Activities This section should contain evidence of your involvement in school activities. School activities might include clubs, sports teams, bands, and other activities specific to your school. newspaper articles sports awards a program from a school play a letter from your coach a program from a sporting event participation of a sports team athletics schedules physical fitness (fitness room, Intramurals, YMCA membership, oodlife Fitness, walking, hiking, camping) groups or organizations that your are a part of (OSAID, reen-team, Student Council, Bible Study Club, French Club, lobal Studies Club, Culinary Club, Fun-Tech, Me to We, Huskies Baseball, Friendship ames Volunteer) any other evidence unique to your involvement in school activities
