1 John Adair Intermediate 4th Grade Math Learning Targets I Can Statements.. NUMBERS AND OPERATIONS IN BASE TEN 4.NBT Generalize place value understanding for multi-digit whole numbers. Explain how the base ten system relates to place value. Identify symbols used for greater than, less than, an equal Write standard forms, number names, and expanded forms of whole numbers. Compare numbers using symbols to 1,000,000. Order numbers based on meanings of the digit in each place. Round numbers to a given place value. 4.NBT Use place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi-digit arithmetic. Solve multi-digit problems using the commutative property.

2 Solve multi-digit problems using the associative property. Add and subtract whole numbers. Multiply up to four digits by one digit. Multiply two digits by two digits. Divide up to four digit dividends by one digit with or without remainders. OPERATIONS AND ALGEBRAIC THINKING 4.OA Use the four operations with whole numbers to solve problems. Explain and identify commutative property in multiplication. Solve word problems using drawings and equations. Change a word sentence to a number sentence. Determine which operation to use in solving a word problem. Solve multiplication problems using visual models Solve division problems using visual models. Solve division story problems that include remainders. Solve multi-step word problems using whole numbers. Identify key words from a word problem to determine the correct operation to be used. Estimate or use rounding to check for accuracy. Apply estimation and mental math strategies to support my answers in multi-step word problems.

Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions having like denominators. Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication algorithms to multiply a fraction by a whole number. Multiply a fraction by a whole number. Multiply improper fractions by a whole number. Multiply a fraction by a whole number to solve word problems. Order mixed numbers between correct whole numbers. 4.NF Understand decimal notation for fractions, and compare decimal fractions. Express fractions with denominators 10 and 100 as equivalent fractions. Add two fractions with respective denominators 10 and 100. Demonstrate the relationship of a fraction with a denominator of 10
