1 transform your vision into impact

2 vision We envision a future where all Angelenos thrive a future where the productive capabilities of Los Angeles residents contribute to the health and well-being of our communities. The fate and future of every resident is interwoven, and our success as a community will be defined by how we improve the quality of life of all residents, especially our most vulnerable. We also envision a future in which more donors impact the challenges of Los Angeles and beyond, fulfilling their passions and creating a diverse spectrum of opportunities and philanthropic legacies. For 100 years, the California Community Foundation has worked to transform generosity into impact and realize a stronger, healthier and more prosperous future for all Angelenos. We are dedicated to providing unparalleled service to our donors, cultivating enduring relationships and guiding them through efficient, effective giving strategies designed to make the greatest impact. Along the way, we partner with individuals and families to help them not only pursue their personal passions but to collaborate with us in building a better Los Angeles County. As experts in Los Angeles, its needs and the organizations that create lasting change, we know how to invest charitable dollars to change lives and strengthen communities. Today, we continue to offer a wide range of giving options and personal support services that enable our donors to maximize their effect on the issues closest to their hearts. Join us and be a part of building tomorrow, together. Antonia Hernández President & Chief Executive Officer 1

3 all great progress is fueled by great compassion The California Community Foundation (CCF) is a vibrant and enduring resource committed to fulfilling the promise of Los Angeles County. Our extensive experience and unique capabilities offer prospective donors an unparalleled opportunity to simply start a conversation about their charitable dreams. Our incredibly generous donors support a diverse range of causes for a wide variety of reasons. Sometimes they have experienced, or been exposed to, particular needs that inspired them to want to make a difference in the lives of others. Other times they have witnessed, or perhaps benefitted from, life-changing opportunities that motivated them to ensure others have that same chance for self-improvement. CCF is a neutral table where donors like you can bring these issues and interests or even identify them for the first time and find meaningful ways to translate your vision for a brighter tomorrow into a vehicle for lasting change. 2 3

5 The arts, through both their expression and impression, offer new perspectives and expand possibilities in ways that are powerful and transformative for the artist, the viewer and the community at large. That is why we and our donors believe in supporting individual artists, strengthening cultural organizations, and ensuring affordable access for all. Quality education unlocks minds and opens doors so that we can know better, do better and be better as workers, community members, leaders and even parents. When we dedicate attention and resources to ensuring school access, readiness, performance and opportunity, we are making a smart investment in our future. Helping nonprofits become sustainable ensures a strong and healthy nonprofit sector in Los Angeles County. From child care and clinics to shelters and the arts, these organizations provide a vital safety net for our most vulnerable residents, and our support helps them achieve their missions with greater efficiency and impact. tap our expertise to accomplish Civic engagement has always been at the heart of important social change, because the more people are involved in the process, the more they are empowered to bring about progress. We seek to foster this vital community participation through direct advocacy, leadership development and convening support. Accessible and affordable healthcare has an enormous impact on our quality of life. This is especially true for children, low-income families and those with chronic medical and mental health issues. Supporting children s insurance programs, preventative care, and community clinics results in healthier outcomes for everyone. Smart growth is about connecting jobs, housing and transportation to create a more equitable, prosperous and sustainable future. We support public policy work, research, job creation, innovative land use and development models to make sure our county s future planning and project development benefits all of L.A s residents. your goals Our donors have an incredible range of interests, and we are deeply committed to helping them make a difference here at home and around the world. Whether it is one of our priority areas or a different passion you would like to pursue, we have the knowledge and experience to realize your charitable vision. Community building initiatives commit and concentrate resources to engage and impact a whole community. Through long-term investments that include supporting a range of diverse programs and building and boosting the capacity of local leaders and organizations, we work to improve health, education and career opportunities and create sustainable social change. Housing and economic opportunities lay the foundation for developing independence, establishing security and creating prosperity. With thoughtful planning, support and resources, we can help families, businesses and nonprofits succeed, and assure that they, in turn, are able to contribute to strengthening their communities. Youth empowerment programs can change lives and impact generations to come. Even in the face of tremendous challenges, young people harbor enormous potential that can be tapped through diverse interventions including personal mentorship, career training, job placement and leadership development. Successful immigrant integration is a vital component of fulfilling L.A. s full civic, economic and social potential. By bringing together public, private and philanthropic partners, we strive to empower new residents to get an education, earn a living and protect their families, so that they are able to contribute in kind to the future we share. 6 7
