2 Giving circles capitalize on the strength of collaboration and the power of endowment. Real Engagement through Active Philanthropy, like other philanthropic giving circles, is an opportunity to contribute to a common cause with financial support and with active involvement in the distribution of funds. Together, the giving circle s members accelerate the growth in assets with their contributions. The Arizona Community Foundation administers the endowed funds with careful management, increasing the grantmaking power of the giving circle over time.

Real Engagement through Active Philanthropy is a giving circle that provides Black men with a mechanism for community investment through active philanthropy. REAP was founded by four visionary leaders who were inspired to create new gateways to philanthropy in communities that historically have not participated in philanthropy, while leveraging social, intellectual and financial capital to develop collective influence. Through the REAP fund, a collaborative fund established at the Arizona Community Foundation in May 2014, the giving circle will leave a legacy of giving for future generations by reinvesting in and strengthening our communities. This charitable fund allows members to determine which organizations and programs to support. The focus areas for REAP include: Career Exploration Succession Planning Educational Enrichment College Preparation
4 We want to create a new norm and expectation when it comes to giving back. In order to do that, we must create new on ramps to philanthropy for communities. REAP is an invitation to do just that. 6 Giving Back. Giving Together. Members of REAP commit to contributing $1,000 per year, or $83.33 monthly, for a minimum of three years, to the Real Engagement through Active Philanthropy Fund in support of grantmaking and endowment building. Participation is open to all men and women of any ethnic background who are interested in the priorities of REAP and fulfill the $1,000 annual contribution. Friends of REAP may choose to support the giving circle s mission by contributing financially in any amount or by providing in-kind support. All gifts to REAP are treated as charitable donations to a public charity and are tax deductible as allowed by law and subject to individual limitations.
