4 Data Description How Much if Costs is based on Medicaid Level I cost reports that were used to determine nursing home Medicaid rates for the state fiscal year. The data used throughout the report is unadjusted. This means that all costs, including those not allowed for the Medicaid program, are reflected. These non-allowable costs include Comptroller s Office disallowances provider taxes, physical therapy, etc. All tables provide information for each year as follows: (1) Average --- The mean cost per patient day by category of expense. For example, the average dietary expense per patient day for all facilities in 2012 was $ The average housekeeping expense was $5.28. (2) 25 th Percentile --- This represents 25 th percentile of the cost per patient day among all facilities. For example, the 25 th percentile administrative expense per patient day for all facilities in 2012 was $ (3) 50 th Percentile --- This represents the median value of the cost per patient day among all facilities. For example, the 50 th percentile employee benefits expense per patient day for all facilities in 2012 was $ (4) 75 th Percentile --- This represents the 75 th percentile of the cost per patient day among all facilities.
