2 This course is for beginners. You don't need any prior knowledge, just an interest in learning new creative skills. Most people enrol with a partner, however if you wish to come along on your own that s ok too. You will learn some of the basic steps in the Argentine Tango. You will understand the hold used while dancing with your partner. You will understand how this hold helps to lead your partner into the figures taught. You will be able to learn how to match the tempo of the music to the dance. During each session your tutor will demonstrate the steps then you will be able to try them out with your partner. Strictly Argentine Tango Beginners This is a 10 week course. You will be expected to attend every week. If you cannot attend your tutor will support any routines missed during the following week. What else do I need to know? You need to wear appropriate and comfortable shoes for dancing. Trainers are not recommended because they stick to the dance floor and make turns more difficult. Although you are not required to work at home, you will definitely find that your dancing skills progress much more quickly if you practise between the sessions. You will learn basic steps in the following dances: Term One - September 2016 Term Two - January 2017 Term Three April 2017 Modern Waltz Ballroom Tango Modern Waltz (6 Quickstep Slow Foxtrot weeks) Rock n Roll Cha Cha Quickstep (6 weeks) Salsa (10 weeks) During each session your tutor will demonstrate the steps then you will be able to try them out with your partner. You will be able to learn how to match the tempo of the music to the dance. There is also a dance party for all groups at the end of the first and second terms. This is a 10 week course on terms one & two. Term three will be a 6 week course, with an option to extend to 10 weeks. You will be expected to attend every week. 6 Strictly Ballroom Improvers This course offers the chance to further your skills in Ballroom Dancing. Ideally you should have already attended our Ballroom Beginners course, terms one and two, or had some experience of ballroom dancing. You will improve your dancing technique and add more advanced steps in the following dances: Term One - September 2016 Term Two - January 2017 Term Three April 2017 Modern Waltz Ballroom Tango Modern Waltz (6 weeks) Quickstep Slow Foxtrot Quickstep (6 weeks) Rock n Roll Cha Cha Salsa (10 weeks) During each session your tutor will demonstrate the steps and technique, you will then be able to try them out with your partner.
