She hopes to one day own and run her own salon and says that KCC is a very friendly environment. 2 Know how to dream big Career opportunities in Section 03 Study programmes 31 Make-up Artist As a Make-up Artist, you would be responsible for ensuring that models, performers and presenters have suitable make-up and hairstyles before they appear in front of cameras or an audience. This could involve producing special effect make-up for an actor in a horror film, or perhaps effective make-up for a news reader. Make-up Artists can usually charge between 200 and 300 a day, depending on experience. Spa Therapist A Spa Therapist can be asked to perform a range of treatments for both genders, in a relaxing environment. At a more senior level, they may also be asked to introduce new and innovative treatments to make the spa stand out from its competitors. You could expect to earn between 18,000 and 28,000 per year. Nail Technician Nail Technicians are responsible for providing a range of nail based treatments, from the basic shape and polish manicure, to the more advanced, including repairing and rebuilding damaged nails. The role can often be creative, with many clients now requesting nail art and suggestions for colour schemes. Nail Technicians can begin to earn 12,000 per year. Salon Manager Salon Managers not only get involved with the day to day running of the salon, but they can often be responsible for the marketing, finance and training of the business. Salon Managers salaries will vary depending on the size of the organisation, but a starting salary is usually around 25,000.

Level 1 VTCT Diploma in Hair and Beauty Skills The main purpose of the study programme is for you to develop hair and beauty skills, techniques and knowledge to enable you to progress to the next level of vocational learning. All the units in this qualification directly prepare you for further study in the hair and beauty sector. You will be assessed through practical assessment and completion of a portfolio of work. You will need at least 3 GCSEs or equivalent at grade E or a relevant Entry 3 qualification. 4 Section 03 Study programmes 33 Level 2 VTCT Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies Working in our professional salons, you will learn all aspects of skin care, as well as waxing, manicure techniques and product knowledge through on-going assessment of your skills, using oral questions and written assignments. Industrial training is available to all learners through reputable manufacturers which will enhance your studies and improve your employability. You will need at least 3 GCSEs or equivalent at grade D including English and/or Maths or a relevant Level 1 qualification. You can progress on to our Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification. // Performing waxing services // Provide facial skin care // Provide manicure services // Enhance the appearance of eyebrows and eyelashes Level 2 VTCT Diploma in Hair and Media Make-up This qualification that has been specifically designed to enable you to learn both aspects of hairdressing and media make-up. It will provide you with all the skills and techniques for applying make-up or photographic make-up and the creative art of dressing hair. You will need at least 3 GCSEs or equivalent at grade D including English and/or Maths or a relevant Level 1 qualification. You can progress on to our Level 3 Beauty Therapy or Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects and Hair and Media Make-up. // The creative art of dressing hair // The art of photographic make-up // Plaiting and twisting // Client consultation for hair services

5 34 Prospectus Level 3 VTCT Diploma in An intensive and thorough study programme which covers both theory and practical aspects of Level 3. During this study programme the student will experience a range of electrical and manual treatments, and work on external clients. Anatomy and physiology forms a large part of the study programme. This is a technical level qualification that provides learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as a beauty therapist. You will need a relevant Level 2 qualification with a GCSE grade C in English and Maths. You could progress on to a Level 4 qualification or into careers within, Spa Therapy, Cruise Ships You could even look into starting your own business. // Body and facial electrical treatments // Body massage treatments // Electrical epilation treatments // Client care and communication in beauty-related industries Level 3 VTCT Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects and Hair and Media Make-up This a technical level qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed theatrical media make-up artist working with performers to a high level of occupational ability, providing hair and make-up services in the media, theatre, performing arts, fashion and photographic industries. You will need a relevant Level 2 qualification with a GCSE grade C in English and Maths You could progress onto job roles within different areas of the industry including, stage, television, film and independent salons.
