1 MADISON COUNTY, NEBRASKA PRIMARY ELECTION MAY 10, 2016 COUNTYWIDE SAMPLE BALLOT NOTICE TO ALL VOTERS The following sample ballot lists all candidates and issues throughout. It does not reflect the order or rotation of candidates on the official ballot for your voting precinct. Only candidates and issues that pertain to your voting precinct will appear on your official ballot. Pursuant to (1) Nebraska Revised Statutes, when the number of candidates filing for certain nonpartisan offices does not exceed two candidates for each position, the candidates are declared nominated and the races will appear on the General Election ballot. Partisan county races in which a candidate was unopposed for their party's nomination also automatically advanced to the General Election. NOTICE TO NONPARTISAN VOTERS A registered voter who is not affiliatied with a political party and who wants to vote in the Primary Election for the office of U.S. House of Representative may request a partisan ballot pursuant to (3) Nebraska Revised Statutes. For the 2016 Primary Election, the Democratic and Libertarian parties opened their Primary Election pursuant to (2) to allow nonpartisan voters to vote in any race where their party is nominating a candidate for a partisan office. The Republican ballot will contain only the U.S. House of Representative race. Nonpartisan voters may choose one of the following ballots: 1) Nonpartisan Republican Ballot 2) Nonpartisan Democratic Ballot 3) Nonpartisan Libertarian Ballot Election Day is Tuesday, May 10, 2016 Polls will be open from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
